THE BIG SLEEPOUT IS OVER! The London and Slough Run supporters joined with over 450
people in Uxbridge on the 28th November 2014 for a night under the stars! Armed only with a
cardboard box and a piece of plastic, we spent the night sleeping outside in support of homeless
people everywhere. It was an experience we will never forget. The evening began with
everyone in high spirits, building up our boxes, marking out our spaces and generally feeling that
we had it all under control. And then the rain came! It didn't rain very heavily, but, no matter
what we did, many of us got wet and it brought home the difficulties facing people sleeping on
the street all the more. The following morning, we crawled out from what was left of our boxes in
to the cold morning. We were lucky - we were given a nice cup of tea to help us warm up but
you couldn't help thinking....if this was for real how helpless and hopeless you would feel having
to do it all over again, night after night. We would like to thank 'Team London and Slough Run'
who participated and also a huge thank you to all the people who gave up their hard-earned
cash. Our little group raised over 4,000 - which is astonishing! Everyone's support has been
terrific and we are very grateful indeed! This money will go a long way towards the Emergency
Winter Shelter that we need to fund PLEASE SEE OVERLEAF.

THE SLOUGH WINTER NIGHT SHELTER PROJECT starts Monday 5th January and will extend
for 12 weeks to the end of March. The purpose of the project is to provide food, shelter and
companionship to the homeless of Slough. Churches and Church halls in and around Slough
provide the venues for the Shelter with a different location being used every night of the week.
We are always looking for new volunteers. If you are over 18 and feel you could help with any of
the following then please register your interest by emailing admin@sloughnightshelter.org or call
John Power on 07837333986.

Volunteers to help set up the venues, meet and greet, serve food and act as
companions for our guests. Time from 7.00pm to 10.00pm .
Volunteers to stay overnight with the night porter and help serve breakfast in the
morning. Time from 10.00pm to 7.00am.
Volunteer drivers to drive a minibus from central Slough to the venue in the evening.
Time from 7.00pm to 8.00pm
Volunteer drivers to take and minibus from the venue to central Slough and back in the
morning. Time from 6.30 am to 7.30am

There is no minimum commitment. If you can commit to one shift that will be a huge help. We
also
