Henry armitage , head librarian of the local universe, introduces the town and t
ell how difficult it is to cope with a malevolent universe in Tentacles
In the Armitage home, his wife Marion and his three daugthers are preparing for
dinner. Asenath and Jill, the younger girls tease their older sister, Prudence ,
about her loneliness. She reveals to them that she has fallen in love with Herb
ert West , ayoung doctor with a questionable reputation. But Marion wants Prud
ence to marry Wilbur Whately, a boy from a neighboring town. When Armitage arriv
es home , he and Marion sing about the difficulties of finding suitable
husbands for their daughters in
Arkham Dunwich.
That night , in a misguided attempt to find boyfriends of their own , Asenath an
d Jill sneak off to the rare bookroom at the
Miskatonic University library and end up summoning a horrible monster in
Byakhee Byakhee
Unsatisfied but undaunted , Asenath and Jill attend a ceremony at the local Esot
eric Order of Dagon Hall, where they hear cultist sing a disturbing Shoggoth P
rayer
After the ritual , Jill stays and overhears decrepit cult janitor OLd Man Marsh
sing his dreams for a better life in

Later , at the libraryArmitage tells Willbur Whately that he'd like him to court
Prudence , and invites the bizarre man to lunch. when Prudence finds out, she
confesses that she's fallen in love with West. The young doctor shows Armitage h
is secret medical labratory and the technique for revivification of the dead.
Back up by a chorus of zombies , he promises to give Prudence immortality in
To Life
Armitage reluctantly agrees to the match between Prudence and West , but he must
convince Marion to go along.After an inspiring encounter with Randolph Carter a
n Harley Warren , Armitage decides to do so by telling her of
The Nightmare,
aprophetic dream in wich Wilbur's dead albino mother , Lavinia Whately threatens
to kill Prudence .
Jill visits Old Man Marsh in his rotting seaside shack , and perverse romance bl
ooms.
Meanwhile, Asenath has fallen in love with the
studly cultist, and they sing of their twisted devotion in

Jill takes Old Man MArsh to meet her father, and explains her desire to marry th
e strange man in
Very Far From the Home I Love.
Moved By the her song , Armitage gives them his blessing. But when Asenath app
ears and says she wants to marry the head cultist, Armitage can finally endure n
o more, and forbids the match.
Later, at the wedding of Prudence and West the jilted Wilbur Whately
appears and reads from the dreaded Necronomicon, summoning Great Cthulhu himself
. Awakened from his lomg slumber, Cthulhu asks the townspeople thee musical ques
tion

Then he kills everyone and destroys the town .
but Herbert West manages to reanimate himself and the townspeople with syringes
of glowing green fluid. As they contemplate the imminent return of the Great Old
