Over-exploitation of Reef Fish Stocks in

Bintan Waters

Overfishing or over exploited fish

in general define as harvesting
the fish resources faster than it
natural replenish.
In 2007, the statistics shows that
the estimation of reef fish stocks
in Bintan waters which is 3390.80
MT/year has been exceeded.
The increasing of live reef fish
trade and the good price has put
pressure on these species.

Objectives
General Objective
To measure the primary
productivity of Bintan
island waters using remote
sensing technique and
make a comparison with
the volume catch report.

Specific Objectives
To map spatial distribution of
SST in Bintan island waters
from 2005 to 2012.
To map spatial distribution of
chlorophyll concentration in
Bintan island waters from
2005 to 2012
To calculate the primary
productivity in Bintan island
waters and explain the
relationship the catch volume
trend from 2005 to 2012
