Sub: Gideon Hermosa has gone from provincial wedding planner to one of the
countrys most in-demand stylists-cum-florists, thanks to research, hard work, and
an unabashed love for weddings
HE could be in Baguio yesterday, Subic today, General Santos tomorrow, and back in
Manila the day after that. This is what a busy week looks like to Gideon Hermosa,
one of the countrys blooming event stylists-cum-florists. Gideon has already built
quite a reputation after only four years in the industry, and it is exciting to look
forward to the work he will bring to the spotlight in the coming years.
A Hotel and Restaurant Managemet graduate from Baguio, Gideon shares that his
love for the arts began in his early years. Studying in Baguio, away from his family,
Gideon found himself and his true passionstyling. He would follow bigger names
in the industry, pre-Instagram, through magazines and newspaper clippings. And he
told himself, Gusto kong maging katulad nila. But he didnt; he is now in a class of
his own.
He left Baguio for Pangasinan, where he was invited to join a wedding business.
Gideon and his business partner would style and coordinate weddings, bringing
trends from Manila to the northern parts of the country. People started noticing his
work, amazed that provincial stylists could bring an urban vibe to their weddings.
His name spread through word of mouth, and eventually, they were able to
penetrate the Manila market. Gideon did this for two years before he eventually
went on his own and began building the sterling name that he has today.
Exhausted is a word unknown to Gideon, what with this bursting schedule week
after week. Talking to him after a days hard work, one would sense that he doesnt
seem to be weary at all. Hes still all smiles, the same jolly guy you see on his
Instagram photos.
Every week is exciting eh, iba-iba. Mahilig talaga ko sa weddings. I would look
forward to every wedding kasi may bago na naman akong naisip. Every wedding has
its own story; every event has its own requirements. Kaya nakaka-excite, na-chachallenge ako.
With the myriad of projects that hes already completed, its astonishing how Gideon
pulls off every event as a unique experience, both for him and his clients. He shares
that it is especially challenging for him to design very common themes, since he has
to bring something new to the table every single time, and you can only do so much.
Like the time he was given a Winter theme. Because the classic white-blue-silver
winter had already been exhausted countless times, Gideon did a blush purple
