BC-103 What Guitar Accessories Do You Need?

Hi, howre you doing? Justin Sandercoe here, welcome to BC-103 (made sure I got that
right by looking down here!).

What Im gonna talk about in this lesson is some accessories thatll probably find really
useful if youre gonna do my Beginners Course. Just gonna talk a little bit about them so
you know what to look for when you go to the shop.

The first thing I want to talk about is Plectrums. Now, the most important thing to look
for when youre a beginner guitar player and you dont really know what you want, is to
get yourself a very, very thin plectrum. I would recommend the Jim Dunlop USA
Nylon .46mm pick. Theyre white and very, very thin (should be a little picture just
here showing you what they look like). Thats the one Id recommend that you start off
with. If you want to get later on in the Course when we start doing some Scales and
stuff, and playing some single lines, single notes you might want to get a slightly
thicker pick.

cea pe care o recomand pentru nceput. Dac vrei putei s optai i pentru una puin
mai groas dar asta mai trziu, cnd nvai gamele i cum s cntai fiecare not
separat.
I recommend these orange Dunlop picks.erm tortoise is that what it is? Something
like that theyre called. Yeah, really good picks; slightly thicker, good texture and easy
to grip. If youre just playing electric guitar, I tend to use a thicker pick. Jim Dunlop
again, a Jazz 3. Nearly everyone I know uses the same pick these little Jazz 3s. I
really like them, but the type of pick and the brand you that you buy is really your

choice. You dont have to buy a Jim Dunlop, buy whatever brand you want. Fender
make some good picks, I mean it really doesnt make any difference, just buy one that
you like.

Pentru chitara electric folosesc o pan puin mai groas. Tot un Jim Dunlop dar
varianta Jazz 3. Cam toi cei pe care i cunosc folosesc aceste pene Jazz 3. Mie chiar
mi plac ns tipul si marca pentru care optai este alegerea voastr. Nu trebuie
neaprat s cumprai un Jim Dunlop. i Fender face pene bune, chiar nu veti simti vreo
diferen, pur i simplu optai pentru cele care v plac.
So, thats the first thing. Second thing, I highly recommend that you get yourself a
Guitar Strap. Why? Because I dont want your guitar falling off! Especially if youre
gonna stand up you need to buy a strap, right, theres no way around it if youre
gonna stand up. But if youre sitting down as well it can stop you kind of trying to grip
the guitar in a funny way and altering your posture. It kind of makes it awkward if
youre trying to hold your guitar all the time, so getting a strap so that its kind of just
almost tight on you when youre sitting down is a good way to do it.

timpul aa c o curea pentru chitar care s o in aproape lipit de voi cnd stai jos
este o idee bun.
So I try and think of my guitar being the same sitting down as when Im standing up, I
think thats a good kind of practice to get into. But getting a straps quite a good idea
doesnt matter the type of strap you get. If youve got a heavy guitar, like a Les Paul
type guitar, an electric guitar, you probably want to get a padded strap, because, well
maybe Im just a big woosie but my should gets really sore when I play with my Les
Paul, so Ive got an extra big thick padded strap for that guitar.

Anyway, next really important thing that you need to get is a Metronome. Now, the
metronome that I use is called a Korg-MA30. Again, dont have a deal with Korg, just
its a really good metronome all my students have it. Its got a lot of features that are
really quite advanced that youre not gonna use straight away as a beginner, but its
just good, so, Id go and check that out. And theyre not particularly expensive either,
but it doesnt really matter, just I wouldnt recommend that you buy the tick-tock one,
you know the tick-tock-tick that you see sitting on the piano teachers desk. Dont get
one of them, you can only choose certain speeds and stuff, so generally just a bad idea.

un metronome foarte bun toi elevii mei au unul. Are multe componente chiar foarte
avansate iar voi ca nceptori nu le veti folosi imediat, dar este pur i simplu bun aa c
a opta pentru unul de acest fel n locul vostru. i nu sunt nici scumpe dar, n fine, nu a
recomanda acel tip tic-tac, acela cu pendul care l vedei pe masa profesorului de pian.
Nu alegei aa ceva deoarece putei opta doar pentru cteva viteze i, n general, e o
idee proasta.
OK, Guitar Tuner. Now I use a really big Petersons Strobe Tuner, right, and theyre
quite expensive. Really would be over the top if youre a beginner guitar player to get
one of those. The Korg MA-30 Metronome has a guitar tuner which looks exactly the
same except its silver, I think, and works as a fine tuner. I do recommend getting an
electronic tuner because if your guitars in tune it sounds nicer, which is a lot more
inspiring when youre learning guitar. So Id recommend getting yourself a Korg
electronic tuner, but it doesnt really matter what tuner you get. If youve got oodles of
money, and you just want to spunk it around unnecessarily, then get yourself a
Petersons Strobe Tuner, because theyre fantastic tuners; really accurate, just too
expensive, in my opinion, for a beginner.

are aa mare importan marca pentru care optai. Dac avei muli bani i nu avei ce
face cu ei atunci achiziionai un Peterson's Strobe Tuner deoarece sunt extrem de bune,
foarte precise dar prea scumpe dup prerea mea pentru un nceptor.
Anyway. Capo or Cay-Po I dont know how its pronounced and I dont really care,
right. I call it a Capo; some people call it a Cay-Po. I dont really know and I dont
really care! I recommend these ones called Kaiser capos. Why? Because I think theyre
really good and Ive never had one wear out or break. They just seem to last forever,
theyre really good. Theres no little screws that you have to tighten up or anything like
that. Theyre really easy to move positions, theyre really good. Theyre slightly more
expensive than the regular capo, but youre probably only gonna buy one in your
lifetime unless you lose it like I do. I lose mine all the time, but thats just because Im
a bit dim when it comes to losing stuff like capos. Anyway. I get that where people
nick them off me all the time, maybe; either one. Anyway, get yourself a capo, Kaiser
capos really good. Were gonna discuss how to use a capo later on, so Im not gonna
go into that right now, its just a good idea to get yourself one.

Eu i spun Capo, alii i spun Cay-Po. Nu tiu i nu m intereseaz! Le recomand pe
cele care se numesc Kaiser. De ce? Deoarece cred c sunt foarte bune i nu s-a
ntmplat pn acum s se uzeze sau s se strice. Par s in pentru totdeauna, sunt
foarte bune. Nu exista suruburi pe care sa trebuiasca sa le strangeti, sau alte lucruri
similar. Sunt foarte usor de folosit si sunt foarte bune. Sunt puin mai scumpe dect
cele obinuite dar probabil vei avea nevoie de unul singur pe parcursul vieii voastre,
aceasta n cazul n care nu l pierdei aa cum fac eu. Eu l pierd mereu dar asta
deoarece sunt cam aerian cu lucruri precum capo. n fine... Mi se intampla sa mi le mai
ia oameni, sau le pierd. Oricum, achiziionai un capo, unul Kaiser deoarece este foarte
bun. Vom vorbi despre cum s l folosii mai trziu aa c momentan doar v spun c

este bine s achiziionai unul.

Display Folder! Get yourself a littlesome sort of book with the clear pages in it so you
can keep all your notes in. Really good idea, keeps them organised. You keep organised
in a book, you keep organised in here. Dont know how that works, but it does, so that
would be a really good thing to get going on as well.
Caietul de chitara! Facei rost de un dosar sau caiet n care s pstrai toate notiele. E o
idee foarte bun, vei fi mereu organizai. Suntei organizai n caiet atunci suntei
organizai i aici. Habar n-am de ce dar aa se ntmpl i v ajut s continuai.
Couple of other, slightly less important accessories, but I still think are really valuable.
Strap Locks. If youre gonna buy a strap for your guitar, get Strap Locks. I use a big
metal thing on the end of here which I have to kind of click off to get the strap off and
it makes a clicking noise. The straps never gonna come off, right. Its really important
because I have seen really expensive guitars guys with, you know, posh Les Pauls or
whatever, Les Pauls have got a really fragile headstock playing away, this strap comes
off, guitar falls down like that and smacks the headstock on the floor. Headstock gone,
guitar worth half of what it used to be, and itll cost you a fortune to get it replaced. So,
if youre gonna stand up and play guitar, get yourself Strap Locks. I use these big metal
ones which cost about 10, which is about $20 or something like that (Exchange Rates
going crazy at the moment so I cant really tell). But you can buy really cheap ones for
like a dollar, plastic ones. So, again Ill stick links up on the website, but go and check
them out as well.

blocare. Folosesc o chestie de metal la acest capt, aici, care face click, pentru
prindere. Nu se va deschide niciodat. Este foarte important deoarece am vzut chitri
scumpe chitri Les Paul sau altele, Les Paul au un gt fragil care au czut iar gtul
s-a rupt de podea. Gtul chitrii rupt, chitara valoreaz jumtate din ct valora iniial i
va costa foarte mult s o reparai. Aa c, dac vrei s cntai n picioare la chitar
cumprai un system de blocare. Eu le folosesc pe acestea mari care cost cam 10 Lire
sterline, aproximativ 20 Dolari sau ceva asemntor (cursul de schimb a luat-o razna n
ultimul timp aa c nu stiu exact). Dar putei cumpra i unele mai ieftine, din plastic, la
un dolar bucata. Avei din nou link-uri pe site unde putei s gsii aceste produse dar
putei s cutai i singuri n magazine.
If you can, get yourself some sort of Tape Recorder, its a really, really good idea. The
best thing in the world that you can have when youre learning guitar is a Jam Buddy
somebody to play along with that you can practice songs with, and as you develop a
little bit and somebodys learned to play Lead Guitar, then one guy can play some
Rhythm, the other guy plays Lead. You can go back-to-back and test each other on
naming chords. Its great to have a Jam Buddy.

bun. Cel mai bun lucru din lume cnd nvai s cntai la chitar este un coleg de
studiu cineva cu care s exersai i s repetai cntecele, iar dup ce ai mai avansat
puin i ai nvat partea de chitar solo atunci unul din voi cnt acordurile n timp ce
cellalt cnt solo-urile. Sau stai spate n spate i va verificati recunoasterea
acordurilor. Este nemaipomenit s avei un coleg de repetiii.

If you dont know anybody thats learning guitar at the same time as you, then getting
yourself some sort of a Tape Recorder is a really, really good idea, so you can record
yourself, listen back listening back is a really good teacher. And, as well, you can
record yourself playing some Rhythm Guitar, and then practice playing Rhythm Guitar
along with it, or practising a little Lead Guitar along with it. Its a really, really good
thing to do. Some sort of audible Tape Recorder, not necessary, but very useful.
Dac nu tii pe nimeni care nva chitar ca i voi atunci facei rost de un casetofon
sau ceva de nregistrat pentru c este o idee foarte foarte bun s v nregistrai iar
apoi s ascultai ce ai nregistrat - ascultatul este un profesor foarte bun. i putei s v
nregistrai cnd cntai chitar ritmic iar apoi s cntai chitar ritmic n timp ce
ascultai nregistrarea sau s cntai cteva solo-uri. Este un lucru foarte foarte bun. Un
casetofon este foarte bun deoarece putei s ascultai nregistrrile.
And last thing, Music Stand. A lot of people end up with back problems because they
practice sitting on their bed, with their music on the bed next to them. Their backs
twisted round like this, their neck comes forward and theyre looking like that, then
theyre reaching and looking at the guitar neck. Really, really good way to have to
spend a whole lot of money in the chiropractor dont do it. Get yourself a Music Stand,
they dont cost a lot. Stick it up in front of you, make sure that youre not twisting your
spine around all the time. Its a good idea to sit up fairly straight when youre practising
guitar, dont be all hunching over like this, because it will lead you to some neck and
back problems if you end up practising guitar a lot.
i ultimul lucru este portativul. Muli oameni sfrsesc cu probleme de spate deoarece
exerseaz pe pat cu partiturile lng ei. Spatele este curbat astfel, gtul se ntinde astfel
n fa dup care privesc gtul chitrii. O foarte bun metod s cheltuii o grmad de
bani pe kinetoterapie nu facei aa ceva. Cumprai un portativ deoarece nu cost
mult. Punei-l n faa voastr i fii siguri c nu v curbai coloana vertebral tot timpul.
Cel mai bine este s stai relativ drepi cnd cntai i nu n tot felul de poziii aplecate
deoarece vei avea ceva probleme cu spatele i cu gtul daca vei exersa mult.
