Objectives:
a. Classifying animals according to the plant they eat.
b. Relate the mouth parts of animals to kind of food they eat.
c. Describe the animals that are classified as:
Eg. Carnivorous, herbivorous, omnivorous.

Topic: Classifying Animals

B. Materials: Pictures of animals
C. Science concepts: Animals can classified as Carnivore, herbivores, and omnivores
according to the food they eat.
D. Science process: Classifying, inferring, identifying.
E. Values:
Give Special care to animals specially those that are harmful.

Procedure:
A. Lesson Proper:
AN - 1. Recall: Why do you think animals eat different kinds of food?
(Because they have different body structures)
2. Motivation:
Group the class in to 3 (three) groups. (This is a board work)
K 1. Write ten kinds of animals that eat plants only.
K 2. Write ten kinds of animals that eat meat or other animals.
K 3. Write ten kinds of animals that eat both plants and meat.
3. Discussion:
AP 1. What are those animals that eat plants only?
(carabao, goat etc.)
AP 2. What animals that eat other animals?
(lion, tiger etc)
AP 3. What are those animals that eat both plants and other animals?
(bird, chicken etc)
AP 4. What do you call animals eating plants only? Eating other animals?
Eating both plants and animals?
(herbivores, carnivores,omnivores)
(Introduce the words herbivores, carnivores,omnivores)

B. Generalization:
How do you classify animals?
(animals are classified into three groups according to the food they eat)
- Herbivores are animals that eat plats only.
- Carnivores are animals that eat meat or other animals.
- Omnivores are animals that eat both plants and meat.
C. Application
Classify the animals and give example of food they eat according to their mouth parts.
Activity 1:
Compare the teeth of a plant eating animals with animals that eat other animals and
the animals that eat both plants and meat.
(Plant eating animal have flat teeth, animals that eat meat have sharp strong and
pointed teeth, animals that eat both plant and meat have flat and sharp teeth)
