Trombone

Things to know:
Cannot articulate like other brass instruments because of the slide.

harmonic series.

Slide cream. First clean then cream. Just put a small amount on
the stockings then spray with water Yamaha slider mix and

Mutes
Brass players use mutes for musical effect (Tambre). It can also be
used to reduce volume. The most commonly used is the straight mute, if
the part doesnt specify the mute its probably the straight mute. There is
also a Cup mute that is a little quieter. The Harmon mute and stem mute
is used mostly in jazz and commercial music. The wah wah Plunger mute
is used in jazz and commercial music.

Trumpet

Those who study trumpet will need up to 4-5 trumpets. Two other types of
trumpet are the Bb piccolo trumpet and the Flugal Horn. Different

Horn
Things to know:

the bottom 2/3 on top

The horn sounds a perfect fifth down They have to be able to
transpose
F single horn is primarily used for beginners. If you start on this the
student has to learn the Bb fingerings when going to the double But
the double is heavier.
Its the only brass instrument that uses the left hand The right hand
is used as an acoustic extension

The French horn is of German origin. It obtained its name because it looks
like the French hunting horn.
Before the valves were created the right hand was used to change notes
diatonically and it was also used for tuning Crooks were used to change
keys

Euphonium
Things to know:

Not part of the standard orchestral instrumentation

Upright bell is used most now the fourth valve extends the lower
register and it adds alternate fingerings
