A. Preparatory Activities
Motivation
1. Show a picture of pancakes to pupils.
2. Ask:
What food do you see in the picture? Who among you like
pancakes? Who has cooked pancakes either by himself or with the
help of an elder? Are pancake nutritious and good to our health?
3. Tell the pupils that they are going to read a rhyme but let them guess
what they think the rhyme is all about.
B. Development of the Lesson
Presentation
1. Tell the pupils that they are going to learn some words used in
cooking. (Unlocking of words may be done through the use of the
dictionary, gestures, or by relating them through pupils experiences.)
Ask the pupils to use each word in a sentence.

How to Prepare Pancakes


To cook pancake, prepare the following ingredients:
1 cup of flour
1 cup of water
1 teaspoon baking powder
cup sugar
tablespoon butter
tablespoon
cooking oil
1 egg
Next, do these steps in cooking:
1. Mix the first six ingredients in a bowl.
Stir the mixture using a fork or an electric mixer.
3. Pop a spoonful of the mixture onto a frying pan
which was previously oiled with cooking oil.
Fry the pancake until both sides are slightly brown
in color.
5. Then toss the cooked pancake into a plate.

3. Let the pupils read the rhyme as a group. Then the boys and girls
read alternately. Call on another pupil to read the recipe.
