1. Vaidika Samshodhana Mandala (VSM) was established on

1st August 1928, to commemorate the great patriot scholar the
Late Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak, with the aim of
bringing out the critical editions of the Vedic Texts and those
related to the Vedic Studies. It also aims at preparing and
publishing the works that are original and helpful to the
Vedic Studies.
2. The VSM has been given a status of the Adarsha Sanskrit
Shodha Samstha by the Govt. of India in 1983.

Salient Features
i. Publications The critical editions of the /gveda, Taittirya
Sa1hit, K4va Sa1hit cater the need of the scholars. The
rautakoa (The Encyclopaedic work comprising of two
sections Sanskrit and English) is one more scholarly
publication of the VSM. These editions run in volumes. So far
VSM has Published 77 books till date including
Yajyudhni, Yajasa1bhra (about the Vedic sacrificial
utensils and material) etc etc.
ii. CDs and DVDs The VSM provides an Audio Visual aid to
know our rich Vedic Heritage. The Audio DVD of Sa1hit
and Kramapha of the ukla Yajurveda and Video CDs of
Pr4amsa I@Ai and some rituals from Vjapeya as well as the
Vikti Phas also enrich our publications.

iii. Avesta Section The VSM has the Avesta Study Centre
and has published the Avesta critical edition in the
Devangar Script which is highly appreciated by the
scholars and the laymen.
iv. Museum and Manuscript collection The VSM has a unique
Museum of Sacrificial Utensils giving clear idea of Vaidika
rauta Yaja. The Institute has a rich collection of more
than 15,000 Manuscripts. It has also published 9
Descriptive Catalogues of the manuscripts.
v. Library The magnificent library with 16,000 books is one
of the best research libraries of the city.
vi. Honours Confirred
a) The VSM has received Athalye Guruji Puraskar in 2001.
b) It is honoured with Vinayakabhatta Ghaisas
Ghaisas Saraswati Upasana
Puraskar by Ghaisas Guruji Veda Pathashala, Vedabhavan,
Pune in 2007.
vii. Other Activities
a) The VSM has organised many Seminars and Workshops on
the topics related to Vedic studies and Manuscriptology.
b) The VSM has been organising Vaidika Vykhynaml for
last seven years, each containing 10-11 lectures pertaining to
the topics related to Vedas.
