In modern era, distance-learning courses by computer may be
the best alternative way of study besides attending class in school.
Distance-learning courses provides several advantages for students
such as less time consuming and easily accessed at any places and
any times. On the other hand, studying in traditional classroom also
provides some advantages such as more comprehensive
explanation and more structured learning condition.
Distance-learning courses is favored mostly because of its
flexibility. First, students can easily access the lectures from the
internet at any time and conditions. Students can download lecture
materials whenever they want to study, even after the class is over.
Second, distance-learning courses by computer is accessible from
any places. Students are not limited to study in the classroom, but
also at any places they like and feel comfortable to study, such as
mall, bedroom, and caf. Third, distance-learning courses will be
less time consuming. Students usually spend much time going back
and forth the campus because of the traffic jam. With distancelearning, students do not have to spend their time going to campus,
and may use the extra time doing other useful activities.
Studying in traditional classroom also provide some distinct
advantages. First, in classroom, students are able to exchange
informations and opinions directly with teacher and other fellow
students that resulted in more comprehensive understanding of the
lecture materials. Second, in traditional classroom, teacher usually
explains in more structured manner. Teacher explains the materials
step by step and put emphasize on important material so students
will understand the material easily.
In conclusion, both distance-learning by computer and
traditional classroom are beneficial and complement each other
well. Students should attend the traditional classroom to get a
comprehensive understanding of the lecture materials from
teachers explanations and interactions with other students. To
complete the knowledge from the classroom, students can learn
about the lecture material from the internet which can be done at
any time and any place easily. Implement both the system will
provide a complete understanding on lecture materials for students.
