Prerequisites for alio Content 3.

10
NOTE: alio Content 3.10 is a 64-bit compatible program and is designed to work with Microsoft
Server 2008 (32-bit or 64-bit) and Server 2008 R2.
1. File Services (If alio Capture or eDelivery is to be installed on the same server)
2. Print and Document Services (For advanced printer settings- if alio Capture or eDelivery
is to be placed on the same server)
3. Fax Services (Only if eDelivery is to be installed on the same server)
4. Remote Desktop Services (formerly Terminal Services). The following role services are
necessary for Alio Content, the other role services can be ignored.
a. Remote Desktop Session Host must be installed
b. Remote Desktop Licensing must be installed if the server is to be the Licensing
server.
5. Microsoft SQL Server 2008 with a processor license (Server 2008 R2 is also
acceptable.)
NOTE: The installation must be installed with Mixed Mode Authentication turned
on. If not, then it can be turned on in the Instance Properties accessible through
the Management Console.
a. This can exist on the same server but is recommended to be on another
server. If the client already has an SQL server on their network, it can be
used for Alio Content.
b. If the SQL Server is separate, create the users "DocescanUser" and
"eDeliveryUser" as "SQL Server Authentication" with any password
desired. The username "DocescanUser" is hard coded into the Alio
Content program, "eDeliveryUser" is defined any way the technician
desires. The password for "DocescanUsers" is defined when the database
is initialized.
NOTE: The password should be a 3-16 character alphanumeric code. Softdocs
does not limit the number of characters in the SQL password; the aforementioned
limit is only a recommendation. The password can have special characters such
as "#, @, $, %, etc."
c. (Optional) If the users password is to never change, then the following
must be unchecked in order:
User must change password at next login
Enforce password expiration
Enforce password policy
NOTE: Leaving the above options checked will cause the administrator of the
system to change the password every 60-90 days. This is not recommended
unless the SQL administrator on-site changes the password in SQL and then in
alio Content, otherwise the system will not be responsive once the password

expires. The password can be as complex as requested and can be selected to

be changed as often as requested. However, this poses more troubleshooting on
the system admin side.
d. Select "Server Roles" from the "Select a Page" area on the left of the
screen.
e. Select the following Server Roles on the right of the screen:
Dbcreator
Sysadmin
f. Click OK and finalize the setup of the login.
NOTE: The "DoceScanUser" can be set to Public and given DBOwner access to the
alio Content database and then in the Database Properties-Files screen AFTER the
installation and initialization of the database.
6. If SQL is on another server, install the Management Studio on the local machine. This
will assist in troubleshooting in the future. SQL Server 2008 Management Studio
Express is backwards compatible with earlier versions of Microsoft SQL Server and is
free to download and install. As for the installation, install the Management Tools
Basic option.
NOTE: Do NOT install SQL Express on this server if the SQL instance is on another
server. ONLY install SQL Management Studio.
7. Install the following Features
a. Microsoft .NET 3.5
b. Desktop Experience
8. Install all updates from Microsoft.
