Wild Design!

Design-Build Exercise
-Heres your chance to jump in and get creative. Each team has a slightly different task. Some teams
have a defined goal; others not. Some teams have set materials to use; others not.
-You will have approximately one hour to work on these projects. We will have time for sharing
your work and reflective discussion at the end.
-Use your imagination! Sketch your ideas to explore and communicate them to your teammates.
Sketch your final product(s) and pay attention to yourself and the group dynamics.
- Students Need: notebooks, this page, gloves, good shoes or boots, sketch-note book, pen/pencil,
hat, water, bug spray
Rainwater Teams
Design anmd build something to collect and distribute rainwater.
Team A: You have free range of the resource pile. Talk to Jono before cutting anything.
Team B: You have an assortment of materials pre-selected, and can potentially trade with the
Transporter Team B.
Open Design Teams:
Design and build something.
Team A: You have an assortment of materials pre-selected.
Team B: You can use whatever you want out of the resource pile. Talk to Jono before cutting
anything.
Transporter Teams:
Design and build a transporter to move your given object or a large stone at least 100 feet.
Team A: Use the materials given to you.
Team B: You can use what you have been given, and you can potentially trade items with the
Rainwater Team B.
(Optional Chicken Tractor Teams):
Design and build a small, movable structure designed to house chickens at night, on perches, and
allow them to scratch and peck at soil through the open bottom during the day. The structure should
be predator proof and easy for Jo(sephine) Permie to access.
Team A: You have an assortment of materials pre-selected.
Team B: You can use whatever you want out of the resource pile. Talk to Jono before cutting
anything.
