Introduction with students (ice breaking activity) and introduce subject, evaluation criteria, and classroom

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tAE7xDGLE_4 Notes about evaluation criteria, Diagnostic Exam, talk
about what they like or dislike and remember about concepts seen in Geography. What they expect and
would like to know about Geography, etc. Present the period topics.
Diagnostic Exam. . Listen to what they know about geography what they like and/or dislike about it, etc Ask
about what they think they will be seen through each period subtopic. Take notes of period topics and
evaluation criteria. Talk about what they think they will learn about each subtopic and what would they like
to know and make a table with notes brainstormed. Introduction. Discuss and build chart: Chart what we
like /what we dont like/ what is easy / and what is hard. Puzzle.
Hand out images: money, president, animal, plant, art object, etc to ss
Build chart. Analyze images in pairs and write (or paste the image) in the correct column. Copy in
Notebook. Write about what is the relationship between those components and explain to class take notes
on classmates and teachers feedback.
**Hw: Bring Pictures of different cities, animals, landscapes, buildings and towns. (places). 3 of each and 3
color or white paper sheets.

Discuss characteristics of places in the pictures brought as homework. In teams plan a presentation to the
group explaining your pictures and to which category they correspond as well as why you think so.
**Hw investigate what is place, environment, landscape, region and territory.
Based in pictures from last class answer in notebooks: which are the differences between each place?
Which elements of nature or created by mankind can you see in each? Is there any relationship between
the two kinds of elements? (Why?)
Notes (or scheme) on characteristics of scheme, mind map, chart and concept map.
In groups of 7 or 8 and write on board a definition of each concept: place, environment, landscape, region,
and territory. Definitions are compared and discussed. Write a definition of each concept.
Plays video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?hl=en&v=BHwYouh3P9Q&gl=U ).Students share what they
learnt-understood from video. Orally define by teams geographical space and its categories and
characteristics.
**HW: Bring pictures of the view of 2 cities and 2 towns in other countries and 2 of Veracruz ( a city and a
town)
Questions on the board: How is the place where you live?, How is the place where you live different from
the ones in your images? How are the components (natural, social, economical, cultural and political)
related in the place where you live? Which characteristics make the place where you live unique? Read
projected notes on regions and geographical components for ss to take notes.

In pairs look at their pictures and try to notice the components each contain and which are similar in
Veracruz. Copy questions in NBS.
