The worlds best plug fan is now even better

What is an EC motor?
The term EC is applied to a DC motor having electronic
commutation achieved with a microprocessor. Commutation
means applying a current to the motor phases to produce
the best torque at the motors shaft. In brush-type motors,
commutation is done electromechanically by using graphite brushes and a commutator. In brushless (EC) motors,
however, it is achieved by switching electronics using rotorposition information obtained by HALL sensors. The motor
runs on a DC voltage, but with a single phase 230V AC or
three phase 400V AC supply.

EC is also suitable for vertical installation

Thanks to the new motor, Centriflow Plus EC functions as
reliably in both vertical and horizontal positions. A version is available for both positions. This provides additional
options to the designers of air handling units and enables
the design of such equipment to be even more compact in
terms of size.

When a high-efficiency motor is fitted to the most

efficient plug fan impeller, the result can be nothing
less than a new world record in terms of overall
fan/motor efficiency.
Only two years ago Flkt Woods Centriflow Plus
plug fan broke the records. The revolutionary fan
impeller increased the efficiency by 10% compared
to the traditional plug fans and brought efficiency
levels close to that of double inlet centrifugal fans.

The new Centriflow Plus EC improves the world

record previously held by Centriflow Plus in regard
to overall fan/motor efficiency. The record-breaking efficiency, on its part, results in astonishingly
low energy consumption and extremely affordable
life cycle costs. Compared to the traditional synchronous AC motors the efficiency of the EC motor
remains high over the whole range of operating
speeds.

The new Centriflow Plus EC offers even

better efficiency

Smaller and lower sound level with less

vibration

The letters EC in the name refer to a highly efficient

motor which is driving the fan. The characteristics
of this ultramodern motor are superior. Compared
to the previous motors, its efficiency is much better
and so it naturally enhances the overall efficiency of
the fan.

In addition to the higher efficiency, EC motors also

have other characteristics valued by the manufacturers of air handling units. The first thing you notice
is that the EC motor is distinctly smaller than traditional AC motors making the total length of the fan
considerably shorter. In addition, the benefits of the

Functional and tested entity ready to be
used
The Centriflow Plus products by Flkt Woods are
known not only for their energy-efficiency but also
for their reliable technical values measured specifically for each fan size. The same principle facilitating the customers design work continues with the
EC motors. All technical data is based on individual
measurements.

A competitive entity is made up of the best

components
An air handling unit works as a whole, and its
performance is compared against its competitors by
highlighting certain properties. Efficiency, energy
economy and noise levels are at the top of most buyers checklist. When fitting your air handling unit
with a Centriflow Plus EC fan, you can be sure that
your unit will reach the top levels in all of these
important performance aspects.
Versatile selection program
The best way to ensure optimal and economic
efficiency is through a correctly selected fan. Flkt
Woods has several selection programs for designers
which help you find the right fan characteristics.

Make the smart energy-saving solution already today!

The price for energy continues to rise and requirements for lower energy consumption tighten in every sector.
International environmental agreements will soon change from guidelines to
laws.
Energy-intensive products will get their own classifications as a part of the directive on Energy-using Products (EuP). It is thus worthwhile to make smart, energyefficient solutions even today.
