Opposites (2)

This week we are learning:


Circle Time Review
This week in circle the children will be
continuing with number practice with
particular focus on 11- 20. They will
continue with pronunciation, sequence
order and recognition.
Transportation vocabulary and land, sea
and sky will also be reviewed. We will be
playing a few simple games to test and
reinforce knowledge.
At the start of the week the children will
be performing at flag so we will be
practicing the words and actions to The
Wheels on the Bus song.

Phonics

Activity Time
Vocabulary
Fast/slow, loud/quiet, boy/girl, happy/sad, left/right, big/small, yes/no, up/down,
open/close, clean/dirty, pretty/ugly, opposite.
Sentence structure:
What is the opposite? It is slow/fast etc
What is this? It is fast.
Games and Activities
The children will play a game where they must sort big and small objects in 2 different
containers. One will be labelled big and the other small. Children will need to collect an
object and decide what container to put it in. We will then go through all objects in the
containers and compare them.
Please complete the sentence, fat and ? The children will be tested to see if they can
identify the opposite pair. They will also need to pick up the correct matching flash card.
We will look at the words open and shut/ closed as we have a worksheet to complete this
week which involves identifying shops which are open and closed. We also have another
match the opposite worksheet with different vocabulary from last week.

Phonics Activities
Monday - Sing ABC's. Alphabet lineupGive each student a letter and have
them line up in alphabetical order.

Dates: 26/01/15 - 30/01/15

New letters and sounds


Initial letter sounds in alphabetical order will be the focus in the first part of the EP
Phonics activity book. An example would be a is for apple, ant and axe. The children
will also begin to learn the letter name as well as the sound.

Tuesday EP Phonics activity book


Wednesday- Sing the ABC's. Fishing
game. Fish for the correct letter.
Students must say the letter name.
Thursday - EP Phonics activity book.
Friday - Listen and stand for your
sound - students to hold a card and
then listen for it to be called out, they
just have to identify and then stand or
do an action to indicate that they have
recognized the sound/letter name.

Writing Practice
The children will be writing in their
numbers book this week and
continuing to practice letter writing
during phonics.
The numbers book will cover 7 and 8
this week.
