Sculpture Plus Tooth Preparation Guide

Indications: Prescribe Sculpture Plus Nano-Hybrid composite for anterior & posterior crowns, inlays, onlays and veneers & Sculpture Plus/FibreKor inlay and full coverage bridges.
Refer to the FibreKor Tooth Preparation Guide for anterior and posterior bridge preparations.

+ Reduce tooth circumference as shown

leaving a 1.0 mm shoulder. Use a 847KR-016
diamond bur for reduction and a 10839-016
diamond bur to smooth the shoulder.

Molar Crown
+ Reduce tooth circumference as shown leaving
a 1.5mm shoulder. Use a 6847KR-018 diamond
bur and follow the contour of the gingival
crest. The cavo-surface margin of the shoulder
should be 90 with no chamfer or bevel.

+ Reduce the lingual (palatal) surface by

1.0mm using a football shaped diamond
bur, 6368-023 or 368-023. Follow the natural
contour of the tooth.
+ Reduce the incisal surface by 2.0mm as
shown. Round and smooth the inciso-axial
line angles.
+ Avoid undercuts to ensure a passive fit.

+ Taper and smooth axial walls 10 15 toward

the long axis of the tooth using a 847KR-016
diamond bur and round the axiogingival line
angles internally.
+ Smooth the shoulder with a 10839-016
diamond bur.
+ Reduce occlusal surface by 2.0mm using a
6847KR-018 diamond bur. Maintain proper
cuspal inclination.
+ Avoid undercuts to ensure a passive fit.
+ Round and smooth all occluso-axial line angles
with a 847KR-016 diamond bur.

+ Prepare as for inlay preparation.

+ Reduce the facial surface by 0.5 0.7mm and

form a 1.0mm shoulder using a 847KR-016
diamond bur.

+ Reduce occlusal surface by a minimum of

2.0mm using a 6847KR-018 diamond bur.
Avoid placing margins in an area of occlusal
contact.
+ Taper internal walls 10 15 using a 6845KR-025
diamond bur. Avoid making a narrow, thin
isthmus between large mesial and distal masses.
+ Place a 90 shoulder at the gingival margin
using a 6845KR-018 diamond bur.

+ Reduce occlusal cusps by a minimum of

1.0mm using a 6847KR-018 diamond bur.
Avoid placing margins in an area of
occlusal contact.

+ If the incisal bite is edge to edge, reduce the

incisal edge by 1.0mm. Smooth and round
the mesial and distal line angles using a
847KR-016 diamond bur.

+ Finish facial and lingual margins with a 90

shoulder using a 6845KR-018 diamond bur
followed by a 10839-016 diamond bur.

+ End a lingual incisal wrap with a shoulder

or butt joint.

+ Ensure all internal corners and angles

are rounded.

+ Avoid undercuts to ensure a passive fit.
