The tax deadline is looming

By the time you receive this newsletter, there will be approximately eight weeks left until the new Hungarian social security tax goes into effect.
Starting January 1, 2015, all non-European Union residents will be responsible to pay social security tax to the Hungarian government. This includes
foreigners who are business executives, educators, and all missionaries. Moreover, not only are we responsible to pay both sides of the social security
tax in Hungary, but we are also obligated to pay social security in the United States because there is no Totalization Agreement between our two
countries.
Starting January 1st, our tax situation will be the following:
US ss tax (both employer and employee):
12.4%
Hungarian ss tax (both employer and employee): 38%
+ Hungarian income tax:
16%
Total Taxes:
66.4%
The Lord has been faithful to provide us with new support from several generous resources. However, we are still $1,000 short of our monthly need.

Will you please pray with us? Please pray specifically for the following:
First and foremost, pray that the Lord will intercede and a Totalization Agreement will be made between the US and Hungarian
governments. This would allow us to pay social security tax to one country, and not both (meaning the percentage lacking in our
support would be considerably less). It is very possible that this could still happen yet this calendar year. This would be the
ideal solution! If the Totalization Agreement is not made before December 31, we will indeed be obligated to pay taxes in both
countries. In this case, please pray for the following:
1)
2)
3)
4)

Generous supporters who will join our team so we can continue serving the Lord in Hungary.
Wisdom as we decide what cuts are possible to make to our ministry budget and personal budget if need be.
Gods providence as we plan our next furlough for the summer of 2015.
Praise the Lord for this trial because we know that He is refining us through the fire to be more like HIM!

We will be sure and keep you updated on what God is doing through this situation. Thank you sincerely for your prayers.
