Aboriginal Success
in the Workplace

Steve Triska, Elsipogtog FN

Industrial Mechanic, NB Power
Steve has been working for
four years on the turbines at
the Mactaquac Dam.
I like where I work. Its
rewarding. When you get
started on a project, you see it
on paper, you put it all
together and then everything
is running correctly. I also like
the team environment. You
learn from each other so it is
good that way. The best part of
the job is job security and
knowing that you are essential
to the company.

Regional Employment Year-Over-Year in New Brunswick

Year-over-year (December 2014 compared to December
2013), employment increased in the Southeast and Central
regions of NB (+500; +300), but decreased in all other
regions. However, unemployment year-over-year also
decreased in the Northeast (-0.5%), Southeast (-0.4%), and
Northwest (-0.4%). This could be due to a number of
factors, such as: worker migration, retirements, and people
leaving the workforce. See the tables below for more
information.
