Upon completion of the module, a student will be able to:

Scenario/Introduction/Background Information :
You are a software engineer from a reputable software house. Recently the software house
have come up with this new project where a research is going to be conducted to various
groups of websites such as e-commerce, company website portal, blogs, etc. It will used as
benchmark by this software house to built their future websites for all of their customers. It
will ease the development process as time for research and development for every new project
can be reduced while it will be able to increase the quality of the project.

Tasks :
You have been assigned to this project as the software engineer who is responsible to evaluate
various websites. You are now required to:
1) Select any two e-business websites (same category/ group) eg:E-bay and mudah.my or any
other from the Internet and evaluate those websites according to the established rules of web
design. Identify and explain the strengths and weaknesses of the website (use table to explain)
(AC 1.1)
2) Apply the web accessibility evaluation software to evaluate the selected websites and investigate
how to identify and solve the errors. (http://wave.webaim.org/) You need to: (AC 1.2)
a) Show the result of evaluation showing description of the evaluation framework used and
how you carried out the evaluation
b) Evaluate and investigate the web authoring tools which are suitable for the selected
website.

Investigate different types of commercial web authoring software. Based on your investigation,
choose 1 and explain your reason for using the software into your project. (AC 2.2)
a) Produce a report containing all the relevant details of site evaluation and investigation.

b) Recommend a multimedia tool and server side script that is suitable for creating a good
user-friendly multimedia website and justify why it is suitable to be used. (D 3)

4) Evaluate the suitability of the software that you have chosen in AC 2.2 by redesigning the
homepage of the website in AC 1.1.Investigate the features of redesigned website with the
suggested website. (Use table to compare the new website with advantages compared with older
one.) (AC 2.3).

using any appropriate presentation software. (M 3)
d) List the ethical and legal issues relevant to Website Development (M 1)
e) Critically evaluate your redesigned home page and justify that it is more interactive and
user friendly than the home page of the suggested website. (D 1)
