AAA screening, men- one time screening for AAA by USG in men

65-75 yrs, who have ever smoked.


Alcohol misuse screening and counselling- adults age 18 yrs and
older.
Anemia screening, pregnant women- routine, for IDA.
Aspirin to prevent cardiovascular disease, men- 45-79 yrs.
Aspirin to prevent cardiovascular disease, women- 55-79 yrs.
Bacteriuria screening, pregnant women- 12-16 weeks. Urine cx.
Bp screening, adults- every visit, 18 yrs and older.
BRCA screening and counselling, women- family history breast,
ovarian, tubal or peritoneal cancer (with BRCA 1 or 2).
Breast cancer preventive medications, women- those with
increased risk for ca, and low risk for drug side-effects. Give
tamoxifen or raloxifen.
Breast cancer screening- mammography every 1 or 2 yrs for
women 40 yrs and older.
Cervical cancer screening- women 21-65 yrs: PAP smear every 3
yrs. 30-65: HPV + PAP every 5 yrs.
Chlamydia screening, pregnant or non-pregnant women- all
sexually active women 24 yrs and younger. Older, only with high
risk behavior.
Cholesterol abnormalities, men 35 yrs and older- screen for lipid
disorders.
Cholesterol abnormalities, men <35 yrs- only if at increased risk
for CAD.
Cholesterol abnormalities, women- only if at increased risk for
CAD.

Colorectal cancer- FOBT, sigmoidoscopy or colonoscopy, from 5075 yrs.


Dental caries prevention, preschool children- oral fluoride
supplementation (older than 6 months), if water source is
deficient in fluoride.
Diabetes screen for Type 2 DM in asymptomatic adults with BP >
135/80.
Falls prevention, older adults- exercise or physical therapy and vit
D supplementation (>65 yrs) for those at increased risk for falls.
Folic acid supplementation- all women planning or capable of
pregnancy. Daily 0.4-0.8 mg FA.
Gonorrhea prophylactic medication, newborn- topical
erythromycin.
Gonorrhea screening, women- all sexually active women, with
increased risk.
Healthy diet counselling- all adult patients with hyperlipidemia or
other risk factors for cardiovascular or diet-related chronic
diseases.
Hearing loss- screen all newborn infants.
Hemoglobinopathies screening- sickle cell screening for all
newborns.
Hep B screening, pregnant women- during first prenatal visit.
Hep C screening, adults- one time screening for those born
between 1945-1965. Others, only if at high risk.
HIV screening, non-pregnant adolescents and adults- those at high
risk, 15-65 yrs.
HIV screening, pregnant women- during first prenatal visit.
Hypothyroidism screen all newborns.

Iron supplementation- children ages 6-12 months, with increased


risk of IDA.
Lung cancer- low dose CT scan in adults 55-80 yrs of age, with 30
pack-year smoking history and currently smoking or quit within
the past 15 yrs.
Obesity screening and counselling - intensive multicomponent
behavioral interventions, for those with BMI >/= 30.
Osteoporosis screening, women- 65 yrs and older. And younger
women with comparative risk of fractures.
Phenylketonuria- screen all newborns.
Rh incompatibility screening- first prenatal visit.
Rh incompatibility screening, 24-28 weeks gestation- Rh testing of
all unsensitized Rh-ve women, unless biological father is Rh-ve
too.
STI counselling- high intensity behavioral counselling to prevent
STIs among all sexually active adolescents and adults at high risk.
Skin cancer behavioral counselling- 10-24 yrs. Those with fair skin,
to reduce their UV exposure.
Tobacco use interventions, children and adolescents- education or
brief counselling to prevent initiation of tobacco use in kids.
Syphilis screening, non-pregnant persons- those at increased risk.
Syphilis screening, pregnant women- during first prenatal visit.
Visual acuity screening in children- at least once, in all kids
between 3-5 yrs, to detect amblyopia or its risk factors.
