Primary Test Manager (PTM)

Testing and management software for primary assets

The ideal tool for diagnostic testing and condition assessment

The Primary Test ManagerTM (PTM) is the ideal software tool for
diagnostic testing of power transformers, current transformers,
and circuit breakers.
PTM assists you (e.g. test engineers and asset managers) in
testing and assessing your equipment according to applicable
international IEEE and IEC standards and guidelines* while keeping
your testing time to a minimum. All test and assessment results are
automatically stored in a structured and easily accessible database.

Available tests with PTM

PTM provides a uniform and user friendly PC interface using
OMICRONs multi-functional test system CPC 100.
Thereby, you can perform a wide range of tests on power
transformers, current transformers and circuit breakers as well as
associated assets such as bushings and tap changers.

Execution of diagnostic tests

1 Detailled nameplate data

The Primary Test ManagerTM

(PTM) supports you in
performing measurements and
guides you step by step through
the entire test procedure.

In order to assist you during testing,

PTM helps you in defining your
asset with specific nameplate
views. Indicating mandatory and
recommended parameters, data
entry is fast and easy.
You can enter information about
the location as well as nameplate
parameters such as serial number,
vector group, or voltage and current
ratings.
Once the data is entered, it can be
re-used for all tests in the future.

Software-guided workflow with PTM

2 Tailormade test plans

Based on the nameplate values
PTM generates a tailored test plan
according to current standards and
guidelines for each asset. Thereby,
PTM provides you a comprehensive
test plan to thoroughly assess the
condition of your asset.
By selecting or de-selecting
individual tests, you can tailor the
test procedure to your specific needs
with minimum effort. At the same
time, test plans can be configured in
advance to enable fast and effective
measurements on-site.

3 Easy connection due to

wiring diagrams

4 Remote control by PTM

Pre-configured wiring diagrams,

depending on the selected asset
and connected test set, assist you
with setting up the test equipment
in the right way.

The PTM enables you to control

and operate the connected test set
directly from a computer.

In doing so, you minimize the

likelihood of measurement errors,
speed up your testing process and
obtain accurate test results even
faster.

Results are automatically stored and

organized in the database on your
PC and are available for analysis and
reporting. Therefore, there is no
need to retrieve test results or files
from the test equipement after
performing measurements.

5 Instant assessment of
measurement results
Limit values can be set according to
current international standards and
guidelines, and based on many years
of OMICRON expertise.
An instant assessment of the test
results is displayed based on specified
limit values. This allows a fast, first
assessment of your assets condition.

Result analysis and reporting

Automatic assessment
Limit values can be selected according to applicable
guidelines or defined based on your individual customized
limit profiles.
A real-time overview of the test results is given during the
measurement, including a progress update and any open
tasks.
An instant pass/fail assessment of the test results is
displayed based on specified limit values. In addition,
a tooltip informs you which test parameters should be
investigated.

Visualization of test results

Test results and their pass/fail assessment are visualized
within the table view and can hint towards further
investigation, if necessary.
The graphical display helps you to get detailled information
regarding the measured value and its assessment. Thereby,
test results and their reference values, e.g. nameplate
values, can be compared side-by-side in one diagram.

Graphical comparison of test results

An additional option for assessing the test results and
further indication regarding the quality of the measured
values, is the graphical comparison function.
You can easily compare measurement results of previous
tests by loading them into the same diagram, for example
using previous test results of the same or similar asset.

All-in-one-report
The PTM automatically generates reports including
all asset-related information and performed tests.
This gives you an comprehensive overview of the test
object, test results and assessment.
The reports provide you all in one per asset:

> Information on location

> Nameplate information/values
> Overview on performed tests, obtained test results
and the assessment of the test results

Customized, individual reports

PTM supports you in adapting your reports to your
needs. Therefore, you can choose to generate your
report in Microsoft Word and as PDF file.
You can decide which parts are included in the test
report and can comment every test. Depending on the
test you can choose from different types of result tables
and diagrams contained in your test report.
Furthermore, you can incorporate your company logo,
photos and other test results for getting your individual
test report.

Management of location, asset and test data

Well-structured data management
The well-structured PTM database allows you to define
and manage locations, assets, jobs and reports in an
easy and fast way.
Once data of your assets was entered, you can re-use
it to generate new jobs or to enter similar assets. The
user-friendly design helps you in finding all asset related
data needed for the execution and assessment of tests.
Well-prepared and with lots of saved time you can
start the guided workflow for performing your
measurements.
For ensuring the all in one approach of PTM,
all kind of files can be attached to performed tests
or else compiled data as assets or locations.
Thus, you can also store test results from measurements
which are not supported by PTM in the database,
e.g. oil quality data.

Open Data Exchange

Primary Test Manager supports data exchange
between different test systems:

Data synchronization and back-up

With the PTM Data Synch module, you can synchronize
your local database with a Primary Test Manager server
database.

The PTM Data Synch module allows:

> You can choose which data of other PTM users

should be synchronized to your local PC

You can choose to set up your server database on any

computer connected to an internal network or integrate it
into an existing SQL server infrastructure.

> You can take the latest update of test data

related to your asset to the field

> You can add and update test data on-site and

The sever database collects the test data from every user
