Public and private organisations from across the world actively committed to engaging and empowering users and
citizens to take part in sustainable innovation processes are invited to apply for membership of the European
Network of Living Labs (ENoLL) as of February 3rd 2015.

How to apply?

What is a Living Lab?

The Application form can only be obtained


through pre-registration with the ENoLL Office
(info@enoll.org) by providing the following:

A Living Lab is a real-life test and


experimentation environment where users
and producers co-create innovation, PublicPrivate-People Partnerships (PPPP) fostering
user-driven open innovation. A Living Lab
engages in four main activities:

CET. Approved new members will be officially
welcomed during the 9th Wave Launch
Ceremony at the OpenLivingLab Days in
Istanbul, Turkey, from August 25th to 28th 2015.

Co-Creation: co-design by users and


producers;
Exploration: discovering emerging
tendencies, behaviors and market
opportunities;
Experimentation: implementing live
scenarios within communities of users;
Evaluation: assessment of concepts,
products and services according to
socio-ergonomic, socio-cognitive and
socio-economic criteria.

The European Network of Living Labs


(ENoLL) is a community of Living Labs
with a sustainable strategy for
enhancing innovation on a systematic
basis. The association supports the
evolution and wide uptake of the Living
Lab paradigm throughout Europe and
beyond.
The overall objective is to contribute to
the creation of a dynamic European
innovation ecosystem with a global
reach. ENoLL aims to support cocreative, human-centric and user-driven
research, development and innovation
in order to better cater for peoples
needs.

The 9th Wave

Applications can be submitted by any legal


entity from any country in the world that is
or hosts (on a behalf of a partnership) a
Living Lab. This organization will have to
prove its capacity to operate as a Living
Lab and/or act as an innovation service
provider
through
the
Living
Lab
methodology
and/or
develop
its
operations towards Living Labs.
Note that since the 5th Wave ENoLL has
introduced compulsory administrative fee
for all adherent members (500 EUR/year).
Evaluation
Membership application proposals are first
checked for eligibility and are rejected on
the following conditions:

Arrival after application deadline


Template not used or severely misused
Missing
LL
legal
body
(host
organization)
Missing name or VAT/Registration
number
Missing LL contact person name, email
or phone
Grossly exceeding the length of 10
pages with 11 pt font for the
application document and 10 pages
for the annex.

All applications must be in English. Eligible


proposals are then evaluated through the
experience of ENoLL members in running
sustainable Living Labs. It is not necessary
to satisfy all the criteria: evaluators look
more at their balance with respect to the
development of LL operations.

Privacy statement
By completing the application form and
submitting
it
for
evaluation,
the
candidate organisation authorizes ENoLL
AISBL to maintain the information
contained therein for the purposes of
evaluation and statistical analysis, in
accordance with privacy legislation in
different EU member states.
In the event of a successful application,
the candidate organisation further
authorizes ENoLL AISBL to publish and
distribute the information contained
therein, unless otherwise informed in
writing by May 21st, 2015.

Evaluation
An evaluation panel of experts divided into
different teams carries out the evaluation.
Each group is composed of three
evaluators coming from different EU
nations.
Applications passing the eligibility test are
assigned to teams having no member from
proposing
nation
and
are
scored
according to the above criteria, clustered
into five categories.
A special cross-evaluation team ensures
consistency of scoring in the following
criteria:

Applicants should prove their LL track


record by providing links to material
such as webpages, video content and
such like.

In the 9th Wave, ENoLL has added


additional
requirements
for
every
application, which have to be sent as
annex together with the application:

Letter of support from all the partners


claimed to be part of the Living Lab
Recommendations
from
another
member of the Living Lab community
(must be an existing ENoLL member)
The ENoLL Council, applying the conflict
of interest principles followed by relevant
selection procedures, will take the final
decision on evaluation and selection
processes.

All applicants will be informed of the evaluation outcome 40 days after the call
closes! The successful applicants will be officially welcomed during the 9th
Wave Launch Ceremony at the OpenLivingLab Days in Istanbul, Turkey, August
