God the Father exalts the lowly

Today at Mass we hear one of the most precious prayers of all

times, the Magnificat, which is the answer of Mary to her cousins
greeting. This beautiful exultation of joy and gratitude teaches us very
important lessons on our God.
He has looked upon his lowly handmaid God the Father
follows always the same pattern when it comes to choosing his
servants: his predilection is for the lowly, the poor in spirit, those
who are not valued as much in this world. Thus, being lowly, the
lowly of the Lord, has great benefits for us all; for it brings us
closer to God the Father.
The Almighty has done great things for me. Gods
thoughts are not our thoughts, neither his ways are our ways. He
does great things for us that exceed our highest expectations;
his focus is to transform us from within, so that we may all one
day become a perfect image of him. What this world considers
great things is nothing compare to the riches and blessings
God is willing to bestow upon us.
His mercy reaches from age to age for those who fear
him. The fear of the Lord brings great blessings to us. Sincere
and steadfast fear of the Lord is shown in loving God so much
that would never allow ourselves to sin offend God out of love
for God, not out fear of the punishment.
He has routed the proud of heart. Those who consider
themselves entitled in this world will be brought down by God;
for only the lowly and poor in Spirit are pleasing him. Lets strive
to humble ourselves and so imitate our Lord Jesus, who humbled
himself and became a man, so that we may become like him.
This is the greatest gift ever.
He has pulled down princes from their thrones and
exalted the lowly. Princes, Kings, Presidents, Governors,
Mayors, they are all called to humbled themselves and care for
the lowly, the poor, the needy, the lonely. Though we are not in a
position of authority like them we are all called to care for the
lowly too; for they are the new chosen manger for the Son of
God to manifest his presence.
The hungry he has filled with good things, the rich sent
empty away. Blessed are the hungry, for they will be satisfied.
What are you hungry for? What are you thirsting for? What are
you full of deep within you? Is God the true bread of your heart?
What is satisfying your hunger? Unless we are full of Grace, we
would remain empty; for our heart is restless until it finds rest in
God.

This is just a brief summarize of the great lessons we van take

away from this magnificent song of praise, the Magnificat. I invite you
to read it privately in a prayer and meditation setting so that we may
hear the promptings of the Spirit and grow from within in lowliness.
