BSc (Hons) Construction Commercial Management

( Final year)
This course is intended to be a top up degree for applicants who have completed a
Diploma in Quantity Surveying or HND in Building Studies or equivalent. It also
gives an opportunity for other cognate HND diplomas to undertake a top-up
degree.
The degree is awarded by Leeds Metropolitan University and is offered in
Mauritius in collaboration with Rushmore Business School. The programme is
meant for Diploma Holders who would like to pursue their studies in the field of
construction management.
AIMS
The course aims to provide a specialist educational experience at degree level
enabling successful students to enter into careers in construction management.
Commercial Management is essential at both project and company management
level within construction organisations, in order to effectively control construction
activities that involve significant financial investment and risk. The course focuses
on the three relevant areas of commercial awareness, human resources, and
management issues. Students will develop knowledge and skills in these areas and
apply them in simulated project contexts.
Entrance Requirements
A Diploma from a recognised institution (e.g. HND etc) or any other equivalent qualification
accepted by the University.

Course Structure
The Final Year of the BSc (Hons) Construction Commercial Management contains
6 modules and a major project.

complete the MEng and register as a professional civil engineer in governmental,
industrial and commercial organisations worldwide
AIMS

The course aims to:

Solve civil engineering problems in practice by applying


fundamental knowledge of mathematics, science, and
engineering and by using modern engineering techniques,
skills and tools, particularly recognizing the role that
computers play in engineering;
Identify, formulate and solve civil engineering problems,
particularly the planning, design, construction and operation
of systems, components or processes that meet specified
performance, cost, time, safety and quality needs and
objectives;

Obtain a broad education necessary to understand the


impact of civil engineering solutions in a global, societal and
environmental context consistent with the principles of
sustainable development;

Design and conduct experiments and to analyze and


interpret data within the various civil engineering disciplines;

Function and communicate effectively both individually and


within multidisciplinary teams;

Obtain a solid understanding of professional and ethical


responsibility and a recognition of the need for and ability to
engage in lifelong learning;

School is offering a Degree in Architectural Technology to equip
candidates with the relevant skills to join the construction

Architectural Technology is the technical side of design, it is about how things
look but mainly it is about how buildings work. It's all about problem solving and
turning conceptual drawings into reality. It is about understanding design and the
buildability of buildings.
The BSc (Hons.) in Architectural Technology programme content has been
developed to assist students who are in or plan to enter design, construction or
operations in the building industry.
The course has been designed to equip students with the knowledge, understanding
and skills required for success in future employment or for progression to a
postgraduate degree. Each module will be assessed through assignments related,
where possible, to workplace-relevant activities. Architectural Technology
concentrates on the science of building. Architectural Technologists become
specialists in preparing detailed drawings and specifications for building projects.
They work closely with architects and other members of the design team.
