My association with Biplab Majumdar, editor of Voice Of Kolkata and Sahitya Utsav,
commenced on an evening of December 2001 when I came out of the hall of Great Eastern Hotel, Kolkata, wherein M. M.Award was conferred on me, while was waiting this young enthusiastic gentleman to meet me and to greet me. After getting introduced by both of us, I felt that I got a friend in Kolkata, nearly 22 years younger to me ,but taller by then through his literary achievements. By that time ,Voice of Kolkata was a year old magazine yet,had its impact on the Indian literary arena especially poetry. All his english poetry collections, viz. Virtues &Vices, Golden Horizon and Islands Dolphin song took me very close to him to understand a poet in him with zeal, a philosopher in him at his youth and a pure hearted friend in him with warmth, as he has been appreciating my poetic works and encouraging me to effortlessly try to serve the poetry world, in whatever capacity I can. It is astonishing to note that Dr. Biplab Majumdar has more than 70 books to his credit as author of Bengali poet and writer, English poetry collections, antholgies edited, monogrphs on poetry giants etc. and srtikingly recipient of over 50 awards from Indian and foreign literary socities for his commendable yeomen service to literature. Dr.Biplab Majumdar says, I just want to share my thoughts and views through my poetry. This looks very simple as every writer gives out, but Biplab explains, This is the journey, from here to hereafter, from the everpervasive now to endless eternity. Dr. Biplab is basically an analyst of happenings around us and he tries to estblish the natural relationships, oterwise unnoticed by us. He tries to answer why most of the Indian poets resort to philosophical thoughts in their creations by his vision that, each and every creative person sees and feels the world from his phenomenal perception And the term philosophy means a poetic process towards transfixed transcendence. Both his observations and expressions have clarity like crystal clear water in a glass jar-like pond. His poems do explain about his true concern towards the human society. His thoughts are newer and newer to the reader each time and are based on all aspects of nature related to invisible spiritual bondages. He provides through his poems the scope to realize the bountiful, refreshing, everlasting joy not different from bliss. His experience is unique and his efforts are great in the service of the mankind. Many editors of poetry journals in India and abroad have anthologised his poems and explicitly discussed his works in English poetry. But, more such work remains to be done so far as his contributions to Bengali poetry is concerned. Biplab Majumdar has brought out in his Bengali poems as reviewed the issues relating to women in all aspects of abuse, harassment, intimidation and exploitatin etc.and he has expressed his concern for the women ,for their betterment in life in a society of in-human people. By this his poems have taken a global issue to the readers in all sincerity. The cotemporary poets of the world have appreciated and acknowledged his works aiming at International Brotherhood and Peace through his poems.
