1. Maybe Specialist Diploma might be best to offer in the Philippines for

the 2015 opening. Please verify: What is the duration of this program for a)
part-time and b) full-time?
2. Mark is in negotiation with UWE and Griffith to extend their articulation
agreement such that part of the BA (Hons) program may be done in CAA.
3. Razel will find out what special license is needed in order to deliver a
foreign degree in CAA.
4. Razel will check laws on tenure of non-academic program personnel.
CAA will see how contracts of faculty may be drafted for efficient and effective
staffing (Ex. subjecting them for renewal every three years).
5. During the first year of CAA, hand-holding may happen in order to
have a smooth flow of operations. In line with this, the following measures will
most likely be done:
a. CAA program heads will be sent to FMDS Singapore for a
3-day orientation on pedagogy and assessment.
b. For the orientation of the teachers, Boon or Junie can
come to the Philippines. But eventually, well have a multi-talented
person master this orientation/training process and conduct it locally.
c. FMDS lecturers can come to the Philippines to co-assess
projects every end of the term.
d. An FMDS personnel may be asked to sit as a member of
the Exam Board or Academic Board (if CAA will set up an Academic
Board).
e. David (for Visual Comm) and another Fashion lecturer
from FMDS may travel to the Philippines every month and observe the
operations of CAA campuses for 2-3 days just to get the system up and
running. These two may also sit in the assessment of projects every
end of the term.
f. Mark will be involved in the hiring process of key
positions. CVs of applicants will be sent to him then he will decide if he
needs to interview the applicant.
g. Mark will meet with the CAA Arts and Design Academic
Team every week via Skype in order to ensure that tasks/KPIs are met.
h. Arts and Design lecturers may be required to submit
weekly accomplishment report based on FMDS task/KPI list.
6. The following FMDS features may be modified to fit the needs of CAA:
a. Grading system - Philippine standards will also have to
be considered for the CAA grading system.
b. Instruction methods - Slides, handouts, and exams will
be shared by FMDS to CAA. But these materials will only serve as guide
for the CAA lecturers and may be changed/contextualized as long as
the learning objectives are met.
c. Organizational structure - For example, academic
board is not required in the Philippines so this may be omitted from the
CAA organizational structure.
d. Criteria for faculty hiring - Since CAA does not have
to follow CPE standards, we may adjust the criteria a bit.
e. Faculty evaluation - In PEN schools, we have a 60-40
system--that is 60% of the faculty rating comes from student

satisfaction, and 40% from supervisor evaluation. We will also consider

including student outcomes in the CAA faculty evaluation system.
