Denmark, is one of the founding countries of the United Nations and moreover, is one of
the main contributors to the United Nations Development Program. In addition, Denmark
considers itself as an active member-state of the European Union, as well as Nato, even
though, Denmark is not member of the Eurozone and therefore is not using the Euro as
currency. Moreover, Greenland is part of the Danish territory, so, Denmark is considered
to be an important actor in the area of the Arctic Circle.
Denmark, in the global political arena, does really care about the climate, as well as, the
environmental change. However, it is not paying attention only to these fields, it is also
paying attention a lot in the issues of poverty, human rights. And one of the main tasks of
the Danish foreign policy is to ensure the security and the prosperity of the Danish
people. Additionally, Denmark in its foreign policy is also focused on globalization, both
political and economic and also, is trying to find access to power-centers around the
world, in order to attain economic expansion, and these power-centers are not only in
Europe and the United States. These are also, in Latin America and Asia. Moreover,
Denmark as a small country tries to influence the world through its participation in
multinateral operations and international organizations, such as NATO and the European
Union.
As it was mentioned previously, Denmark is a small country, in terms of land and is
willing to ensure the prosperity of its people, as well as its destiny and in order to achieve
this, takes part in the European Union. Even in the course of the financial crisis when
many countries led to recession, Denmark was able to create jobs for people and to have
economic growth.
One aspect of the foreign policy of Denmark is that decided to shut down some of its
embassies around the world. Characteristically, Denmark closed its embassies in Cyprus
and Nigeria. Another significant aspect of Denmark's international relations is that
Germany is its major trading partner and this happens because Germany imports the vast
majority of the Danish exporting goods.
In relation to terrorism, Denmark does not have record of terrorist attacks in its domestic.

However, is really worried about terrorism and extremism, around the world, which is in
rise recently.
Besides, Denmark has actively taken part in military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.
In the case of Afghanistan all the parties of the Danish parliament were in favor of the
involvement of Denmark in the war in Iraq, but in the case of Afghanistan did not happen
the same. Denmark, decided to participate in these military operations in order to
contribute to the efforts for democracy and political stability in these countries and did
this because both, democracy and political stability are very essential elements for
sustainable development. In addition, Denmark took part in the military operation in Mali
and nowadays, is involved in the conflict against ISIS.
