Lady Indians lose

to South Holt

The Tarkio High School

Lady Indians traveled to
Oregon, MO, to compete
against the South Holt Lady
Knights on Friday, February
6, 2015. The Lady Indians
lost the conference game 4358.
Emily Graves led the
Tarkio team with 17 points
(one
three-pointer).
She
also had three assists, three
steals, and five rebounds.
Gentri Staten added 11
points (two three-pointers)
to Tarkios score and had
one assist and two rebounds.
Christina Hall scored eight
points and had two assists
and three rebounds. Hadley
Barnett scored five points
(one three-pointer) and had
three assists and one rebound. Madison Ohrt added
two points to the score and
had one rebound. Shelby
McCartney pulled down the
most rebounds, nine, for the
Lady Indians. Tawni Martin
had an assist and rebound
and Bree Barnett had one
rebound.

Payton Moore: Spunky yet loving

Payton Moore is the
spunky, sassy, and sarcastic
girl everyone knows her to
be. She isnt scared to give
her opinion, but she would
give you the clothes off her
back. Payton was given this
loving and spunky heart
from her mom Kim Wallace,
stepdad Jeff Wallace, her
dad Greg Moore, and stepmom Laura Moore. Paytons
sisters are Paige Moore (her
twin), Ashley Moore, Amanda Smith, and Stormie Wal-

lace. Her brothers are Otis

and Travis Smith, Daley
and Trint Herbst, and Shane
Wallace.
Throughout high school,
Payton has been involved
with FCCLA, Rotary Interact, and FFA, all for one
year. She also has been involved with Vo-tech for two
years for Culinary Arts. On
top of being involved in so
much, Payton has also had a
job at the local Hy-Vee.

it will be The Outsiders and
ANY Disney movie! Her favorite sports team is the
Kansas City Chiefs. After
high school, Paytons future
plans are to either own a
restaurant or write a series
of books. Writing a series of
books would explain Paytons favorite school subject
which is English and she
also enjoys reading the Percy Jackson series.
With owning her own
restaurant she would need
certificates, but that is okay
with Payton because her
most memorable high school
moment was receiving all of
her culinary awards. With
having all these brothers and
sisters comes a lot of memories, but Paytons especially
favorite memory was going
to Colorado on vacation.
During high school, Payton

said her most embarrassing

moment was during P.E. one
day she slipped and fell on
the wet grass and she just
decided to lay there! Hopefully, when she owns her
own restaurant she will let
the waiters carry the trays.

To Kill a Mockingbird is
one of the most well-known
books in the world. This book
has created some serious
discussions in high school
classes across the country,
from how and what the book
means to what kind of writing style used all the way to
what a certain sentence can
mean. After 60 odd years,
Harper Lees one hit wonder
finally has a sequel to it, Go
Set a Watchman.
Since everyone knows
the story of lawyer Atticus
and his children Scout and
Jem, we have always wondered whatever happened
after that long summer. Now
is our chance to end the nail
biting wonder and finally
get some answers. On February 3, it was announced
that there was going to be a
sequel. This book has been
under lock and key for over
60 years. Harper Lee announced that she actually
wrote Go Set a Watchman
first. Her editor liked the

flashbacks of older Scout

and this caused her to then
write To Kill A Mockingbird.
This is a really fun fact because for over 60 years no
one knew that there was another book and it turns out
that the other book was actually the first book!
According to USA Today,
the book will be released
July 14 of 2015. Harper Lee
wont make a tour for this
book simply because of her
age. This sequel will probably be the most talked about
among students and teachers who greatly loved the
book. To Kill a Mockingbird
is easily listed in the top 100
of the best novels ever written. Now to hear that there
is a sequel makes the book
even better for the simple
fact that people are finally
going to get their answers.
Whether it lives up to the
original or is a disappointment, the fact remains that
this will be one of the most
anticipated books to be released in many years.

The Tarkio Junior High

Drama Department proudly
presents The Adventures
of Rose Red (Snow Whites
Less-Famous Sister). Rose
Red has just turned thirteen
and the pressure is on - what
will she do to get famous
like her sister, Snow White?
Everyone in the kingdom,
from her parents to her close
friend Miss Muffett, is pressuring her to get discovered.
But Rose Red doesnt want
to constantly be on the front
page of the Grimm Times,
even if Bo Peep, Cinderella,
and Goldilocks eat up the
attention. In her struggle to
choose between doing what
everyone else wants and
forging her own path, Rose
Red cant help wonder if a
girl who wants to be just
normal can live happily
ever after.
The play will be performed on Saturday, February 21, at 7 p.m. and Sunday,
February 22, at 2 p.m. in the
Tarkio High School Auditorium. The cost of admittance is a free will donation
that will help out the Tarkio
High School Drama Department. The cast consists of 17

This may be the shortest
month, but it is jam packed
with activities! With FCCLA
Star
events,
FBLA
contest, honor choirs, music
contest, FFA, and so much
more, there are hardly any
students in the Tarkio High
School building this week.
Why is it that this is the
month that gets packed?
Why would everyone try to
fit everything in in 28 days?
Coincidence or purposeful?
This time is not only fun
for students, but it is also
stressful. We have all just
gotten out of January, which
was full of other activities
and sickness, and now we

are rushed into even more!

On top of all the activities that consume our time
we also have homework to
keep up with. Personally, I
have college classes that I
am trying to keep up with
and those never slow down,
no matter what. Students
are taking care of the work
theyre missing and also the
homework thats been assigned. Dont get me wrong,
we enjoy not being in school
and having something different to look forward to in
our day. What is a little aggravating and stressful is
missing four out of the five
days in a week.

Northwest Missouri State

University is one of 88 sites
throughout the state hosting FAFSA Frenzy to assist
future and current college
students who are seeking
assistance with completing
the Free Application for Federal Student Aid or FAFSA.
The FAFSA is the first
step all students must take
to obtain financial assistance to attend college. The
Northwest event will be held
from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, February 22, in Room 250 of the
B.D. Owens Library on the
Northwest campus. Personnel from Northwests student financial aid office will
be on hand to answer questions and assist students
and families with completing the FAFSA online.

not need to have filed their
federal income taxes for
2014 in order to participate
in a FAFSA Frenzy event or
to complete the FAFSA. Participants are asked to bring:
2014 W-2 forms; 2014 tax
forms, if they are ready, or
any statements of interest

taxes; and student PIN and
