OBJECTIVES
The objective of this document is to sizing the Water Surge Tank for Ampuh.
CALCULATION METHOD
1. Unit of Measurement :
US Customary
2. The storage tank will be sized/verified for the working capacity as required. The storage tank size will be checked for the holding time,
level settings and response time.
REFERENCES
1. API Standard 650, 10th edition, 1998 "Welded Steel Tanks for Oil Storage"

Mechanical Data Sheet For Water Surge Tank
DESIGN BASIS
1. The working volume of the tank is defined as liquid volume stored between LLL and NLL.
2. The Low Liquid Level alarm will be set based on operators response time (3 minutes) before the pump
trip at the low low liquid level.
3. The low low liquid level is based on Table 3.6 of API STANDARD 650 (10th ed. 1998) plus additional height equal to outline diameter
to prevent vortex in the connection point of the outlet of the tank.
4. Surge time (NLL - overflow) of 30 minutes is provided to allow Operator blocking the water surge tank's outlet line during maintenance
while produced water from existing Wash Tank will be continuously filling.
5. Nozzle for inlet and outlet to pump will be sized/verified for following design criteria :
Momentum at Inlet Tank Nozzle shall not exceed 670 lb/ft s2
Velocity a Outlet to pump suction flange shall not exceed 5 ft/s
6. Filling rate is taken from Existing Wash Tank.
