Ans. Noise pollutionis defined as any form of noise that disrupts the normal functioning of life. It has serious effects on
the mind and body of humans as well as animals.

Ans.All modes of transport i.e. vehicles, airplanes, trains and ships produce noise when they are being used. People
living near airports and railway stations are permanently exposed to unavoidable noise pollution. In addition, some
drivers use hornsexcessively and raise pollution in the environment.

Ans.Construction work is an important cause of noise pollution. Usually, this work is slow and time-consuming. The
transport and equipment used at construction sites produce noise.Moreover, the grilling and piercing sound at
construction sites is also a big cause of noise pollution. It not only disturbs the general public but also affects
construction workers by causing mental fatigue.

Ans.Use of technology is an important source of noise pollution. People use their electric appliances for example TV
and music systems on a loud volume and keep them switched on for most of the time. Many people use electricity
generators which produce a lot of noise. Mobile users usually do not put their mobiles on silent modes while entering
offices, hospitals, schools or colleges and raise noise pollution.

Ans. Noise is very hazardous for human health because it is a biological stressor and causes conditions such as
aggression, hypertension, high stress levels, hearing loss, restlessness, depression and insomnia. Insomnia further leads
to anxiety, bad temper and emotional stress. Noise also affects students preparation for examination and gives them
unnecessary mental and physical tension.

Ans.The following precautions may reduce noise coming from electronic devices.
i. The government should enforce strict rules to check unnecessary noise producing agents.
ii. The use of mobile phones should be strictly prohibited in hospitals, offices and academic institutions.
iii. People should exhibit more civic sense while using electronic devices.

Ans. It is a fact that noise pollutionis a byproduct of technology because many electronic devices e.g. electricity
generators, washing machines, sewing machines, air conditioners produce a lot of noise when they are in use. Secondly,
people do not exhibit their civic sense while using some electronic devices. Usually, they use their music systems and
TV on loud volume and create noise pollution.The use of mobile phones at public places also raisesnoise pollution.
