The development of such rapid progress that led to demands for quality human resources

from time to time increase. In order to meet these demands, the development of quality education
is one important option that can not be circumvented. With a good quality education, then the
quality of educational output are also more able to expect. A careful selection of methods of
learning is one of efforts to improve the quality of education. A good learning method is able to
create a conducive atmosphere in the classroom, so that at finally also able to increase the
motivation and student learning outcomes. Based on observation, teaching methods applied in
SMA 10 This is unfortunate for the conventional methods through lectures and question and
answer. With such a method can cause students to become passive and less independent in
learning. Hence the need for a renewal of learning to change that paradigm is the application of
innovative learning models Talking Stick to enhance motivation and student learning outcomes.
This research is a class act of this kind of research using qualitative approaches.
Implementation of classroom action research was conducted through two cycles where each
cycle consists of four phases, namely: (1) planning, (2) implementation, (3) observation, and (4)
reflection. The subjects in this study were students of class XI IPS in SMA Negeri 10 Malang.
Data collection techniques in this study using a written test conducted at the end of each cycle,
interview guides, field notes, observation sheet, questionnaire, student motivation, and
documentation.
The results showed that the average score for students' intrinsic motivation to learn in the
first cycle reached a value of 3.03 and otherwise in good degree of success, whereas extrinsic
motivation for students to reach the value 3.04, and expressed also in a good degree of success.
In the second cycle students' motivation to increase the intrinsic motivation to reach the value
3.56 and otherwise in very good degree of success, whereas extrinsic motivation for students to
reach the value 3.59, and expressed also in a very good level of success. Although the increment
is less significant, but remain here there was an increase which means that learners have
increased motivation to learn as a whole. Analysis of student learning outcomes indicate that in
the first cycle the number of students of class XI IPS SKM learn otherwise have exceeded 81%
and 19% stated not exceed the SKM study. In the second cycle success rate of students of class
XI IPS study increased by 88% of students stated beyond SKM study and has not exceeded 12%
expressed SKM study.
Based on these results, researchers suggest (1) For the teachers should implement
innovative teaching the Talking Stick as an alternative model of learning in the classroom for
other subjects, particularly subjects Accounting basic equation of accounting and preparing
financial statements, (2) To develop innovative learning model of the Talking Stick by providing
additional development of instructional media and learning scenario are highly recommended so
that the more innovative and creative learning. (3) For further researchers should conduct
research on the application of innovative learning model of the Talking Stick either in class or at
other schools so that research results more representative and valid.
