Position description:
Members of the Executive Board (EB) are the leaders of HUGH Forum and are
responsible for planning and organizing the major events that are put on by the organization.
Together, EB members brainstorm ideas about global health-related events and projects that
will be interesting and useful to students on campus. The general areas in which we organize
events are: 1) global health awareness, 2) domestic and international volunteer/internship
opportunities, 3) faculty discussions, 4) community projects, and 5) fundraising for global
health causes.
The EB is comprised of a President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Executive Board
Committee Members. Next year’s Executive Board Committee Members are selected on the
basis of this application and an informal interview by the current EB members. Executive
Board Members who have served at least one semester on the EB are then eligible to run for
President, VP, or Treasurer.

Responsibilities of an Executive Board Committee Member:

As a group the EB plans a general schedule of events, and each member will be
responsible for leading, or co-leading, at least one of these projects each semester. Project
leaders will have the support of the other EB members, but will be responsible for reaching
out to the general membership (i.e. non-EB members) to involve additional members in
planning aspects of these events. Past projects have included a global health opportunities
fair, panel discussions with faculty speakers, meetings with NGO representatives, and
fundraisers. Please see www.hughforum.org for a full organization description and a list of
recent events.
Other responsibilities:
• Attend weekly executive board meetings
• Attend and help coordinate other events and meetings put on by HUGH Forum.
• Help with advertising and publicity efforts for events.

Application Process:
Prospective Committee Members must complete the following application and submit
it by email to global@hcs.harvard.edu by Friday, April 25th, at noon to be considered.
Applicants chosen for the second round will be notified the following week and invited to an
informal interview with two or three existing EB members.
Applicants are strongly encouraged to attend our general meeting on Tuesday, April
22nd in Sever 110 for a more detailed description of the position and responsibilities, as well
as current HUGH Forum projects. Applicants who cannot attend should email
