MT: What Causes a Hernia?

MD: For every medical condition there is always a trigger that brings it up. It is
uncommon for any medical condition to spring up.
What Causes a Hernia?
One of the most prominent ways of protecting yourself against diseases is to know its causes.
This will make you take informed precautions and stay away from exposing yourself. Hernia is a
medical condition in which the body organ pushes their way out through the connective tissues
and the adjacent muscles. It will cause swellings and in most cases will be very uncomfortable
and even painful. Understanding what causes hernia will be helpful in knowing how to remove
oneself out of the risk.
What causes a hernia to occur can be generally classified as a result of muscle weakness or
strain. These two are however not the overall answers to the question what causes hernia? A
muscle weakness or strain to the connective tissues is the first cause of or leeway for organs to
push outwards. A weakness in the muscle structure may be a defective condition at birth or a
progressive deterioration due to others factors. Most of the hernia will take place in the abdomen
body region. This is because there are a lot of organs held in within this area. There is also no
much support structure in terms of bones but rather only muscles and connective tissues.
What causes abdominal hernia is mostly associated with the kind of hernia that manifests. As
much as all of them fall into the general category of organs pushing out, there is a difference as
to why the organs are acting in this manner. For example what causes inguinal hernia is a result
of organs pushing through the inguinal canal. In men this is a canal created by the movement of
testicles into the scrotum right before birth. If this canal does not heal and seal properly,
intestines might push themselves out through this region. This in most cases will be the small
intestines pushing through and will be the answer as to what causes hernia in the groin. In
women it is the region where the uterus ligaments are found. What causes hernia in the
stomach will be as a result of organs pushing through weak surrounding walls.
In all cases of what causes a hernia, it is the result of organs pushing out through weak points.
Organs do not gain momentum by themselves and just start pushing out. So it means there is a
force pushing the organs out and also contributes to what causes hernias. There are forces that
will develop as a result of a number of factors so as to give the organs enough energy to push
through. The pushing forces will be developed as a result of excess weight, chronic coughing,
after surgery effects and pregnancy among others. All the above are causes of hernias and so
with knowledge of this one can take care of themselves so as to prevent hernia attacks.
