Bake Out
Next Sunday, January 31st is Bake Out Sunday. Please bring
your baked goods to be distributed to local businesses. We will
have a table set up in the Breezeway so you can drop off your
goodies.

One of the benefits of living in Highlands Ranch is that we
are able to go to our nearest Recreation Center to exercise. Since I
have been in our new home, I have been trying to go exercise at
least a few times a week. I have seen an increase of people since
the first of the year. It seems that, after the holidays, everyone is
trying to shed some weight and get in better shape. They, in
essence, are attempting to transform their health and their bodies.
Personally, I am just trying not to lose any ground. At age 44, I am
beginning to feel the effects of gravity (we will save that subject for
another day!).
Transform. That is the key word for the day. We must
believe in transformation in our church. The apostle Paul was a
believer in transformation. He knew what he was before his
conversion to Christ. This is why he could exclaim in 2 Corinthians
5:17, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old
has gone the new has come!” As we see people in our world trying
to transform their bodies, their relationships with other
people, and their financial portfolio, we proclaim that the greatest
need for transformation is spiritual.
I believe being transformed by Jesus’ love is the most
powerful healing a person could ever experience. Romans 12:1-2
speaks of the power of this change in our life. It also calls for us to
respond to this “new” life of purpose. We certainly will have issues
to work on in this life after He begins transforming us, but the prom-
ise is that God will finish the work He began in us! Philippians 1:6,
“He who began a good work in you will carry it on unto
completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” The apostle Paul
understood the healing power of transformation! I am praying
today will be a day that God heals through His transforming power.
May it be so today!

Support Group for Caregivers
This monthly support group is for those providing care to an aged or
chronically ill loved one, while losing sight of themselves. We will meet on
Monday, February 8 from 6:00 - 7:30 pm in the Community Room. Elder care

"Symphony of Love" - The Place to be on Valentine's Day
Join us on February 14th at 6:00 pm for this unforgettable concert. Be sure to
bring your friends and neighbors. This is a free concert, but since we may
reach capacity, you may wish to purchase "secured" seats for $5 or "Artist
Circle" for $25 (which includes a concert DVD). Tickets are available at the
Hot Booth, the Reception Desk, the DFC Bookstore or online at

Impacting Our World, One PIE at a Time
Yes, it’s time again for our annual Pie Auction! The 9th Annual Pie Auction will
be held on Sunday, February 21st at 6:00 pm in the Fellowship Hall. Prior to
the auction, we will have a youth-led service starting at 5:00 pm in the
Fellowship Hall. Proceeds from the auction will benefit youth summer
missions. Join us for a night of fun! We also need homemade pies! If you are
interested in helping, please fill out a pie commitment card at the Student
Ministries Booth. Thanks for your help!
DFC Pantry Drive
The Children’s Department would like to announce that the 1st-4th graders will
be collecting spaghetti and spaghetti sauce to help stock the shelves of our
DFC Pantry. Also, our 5th and 6th graders will be collecting peanut butter and
jelly. Please donate these items by bringing them to the Reception Desk or
the Garden Level Welcome Center. If you have questions, please call
Gwenda Rakes at 303/806-2612.
Thank You
We are finally catching our breath after a holiday of moving, unpacking and
entertaining out of town visitors. We just wanted to take a moment to thank all
of those who sent us well-wishes, house warming gifts and Christmas goodies.
Please know how much we appreciate your kindness and generosity. DFC
has overwhelmed us with love, encouragement, prayers and support during
this time of transition for our family. We cannot believe our good fortune for
landing in such a wonderful church. Thank you very much!
