GENERAL
1.1.

Scope
This specification defines the requirements for plating grasses, trees, and installation of jute
for re-greening works on the open areas around well locations, sides of pipe line access
(corridor), side of roads, drainage canals, ex-borrow pit, and other open areas of
COMPANY Area of operation.
The scope includes providing good topsoil, fertilizer, grass sods, native tree seeds, jute
mesh, and maintenance of the grasses and trees after planted. CONTRACTOR shall also
provide skilled and experienced workers, transportation, water tank trucks, equipment, and
tools.

The publications listed below form part of this specification. Except as modified
by the requirements specified herein or the details of the drawings, all work
included in this specification shall conform to applicable provisions of these

Terminology
In this specification, the following words and terms shall have the meanings hereby
assigned to them, unless noted otherwise.
1.3.1.

COMPANY
Refers to PT. CALTEX PACIFIC INDONESIA, as the ultimate user and owner,
the authorized representative of COMPANY or COMPANY third party
inspection.

1.3.2.

CONTRACTOR
Refers to company selected by COMPANY, which may be responsible for the
detailed engineering design, material and equipment procurement, and
construction as specified in Contract, Scope of Work, or Work Order.

Vendor
Refers to the company selected by COMPANY or CONTRACTOR, which is
responsible for the purchase agreement or purchase order of the goods/services

For EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) project purposes:
The terminology shall have the meanings as above.
For Direct Procurement by COMPANY purposes:
Vendor shall also be responsible as CONTRACTOR.

1.4.

Conflicting Requirements
1.4.1.

In case of conflict between this Specification and its associated Specifications


and the above Codes and Standards, the Vendor shall bring the matter to the
COMPANYs attention for resolution and approval in writing. However, the
most stringent requirement shall apply.

1.4.2.

Should conflicts exist between this specification and other documents, the
following order of precedence shall govern:

2.

Vendors Code

PRODUCTS
2.1.

Materials
2.1.1.

Top Soil
Material for topsoil as thick of 3 cm shall be free from non-organic trash, toxic
substances, tree roots, and any other substance, which would hinder the plant
growth. Topsoil used in this work shall have the pH value in a range of 6 - 8 and
shall be taken from their original location in an environmentally safe manner.
COMPANY shall have the right to inspect and approve CONTRACTORs
source of topsoil prior to commencement of the Work.

2.1.2.

Water
Water supply for plant watering shall be of sufficient volume and shall be from a
surface water source. Water temperature shall be between 60 - 900F and shall
have the pH value in a range of 6 - 8. Water shall be free from oil, brine, and
other substance, which would hinder the plant growth.

2.1.3.

Fertilizer
Fertilizer used in this work shall be made from manure or artificial fertilizer.
Fertilizer shall be free of toxic substance and shall contain the required nutrition

substance, i.e. Nitrogen, Phosphor, Kalium, in a proper content for each type of
vegetation.
2.1.4.

Grass Sods
Grass sods used for this work shall be taken from their original location in an
environmentally safe manner. COMPANY shall have the right to inspect and
approve CONTRACTORs source of grass sods prior to commencement of the
work. The minimum size of grass sods shall be of 8-inches x 8-inches and the
minimum thickness shall be 1-inches.

2.1.5.

Trees
Seedling trees that will be planted shall be not less than 2-feet in height and shall
be contained in a black plastic bag. The diameter of this bag shall be not less than
4-inches with some small draining holes provided.

2.1.6.

Jute Mesh
Jute mesh shall have maximum mesh-grid size of 4-inches x 4-inches.

2.1.7.

Dowels
Dowels shall be made from wood or bamboo. The length shall not be less than
one foot and with a diameter of -inch.

Field Quality Control


2.2.1.

CONTRACTOR warrants that all equipment, tools, materials, and supplies


furnished by CONTRACTOR and its Subcontractors shall be in good condition
and suitable for the uses intended.

2.2.2.

COMPANY shall have the right to inspect and review CONTRACTORs


equipment, tools, materials, and supplies at any time for the purpose of
ascertaining that they are in fact containing results that are satisfactory to
COMPANY.

EXECUTION
3.1.

Planting
3.1.1.

Grass Sods
3.1.1.1 Mix good topsoil with the fertilizer in a composition as recommended by
the fertilizer manufacturer.
3.1.1.2 Spread a minimum of 2-inches thick loose layer (not compacted) of this
mix on selected open area.
3.1.1.3 Lay green grass (rumput jarum) sods on both sides of pipe corridors,
side of access roads, and sides of drainage canal embankments. No gaps
shall be allowed between sod pieces.
3.1.1.4 For hilly areas, the sod pieces shall be nailed down by using wooden or
bamboo dowels to avoid sliding. For hilly areas with slopes greater than
2:1, install jute mesh in addition to the sticks.

3.1.1.5 Jute mesh shall be laid down, without stretching it, on the surface
location by using the wooden or bamboo sticks. Distance between two
sticks shall be 2-feet. Jute mesh installation shall have 8-inches of
overlap on each side
3.1.1.6 This work shall include maintenance for one month after planting to
ensure the grass grows well.
3.1.1.7 No grass watering is allowed during hot sunny days. Watering shall be
done either during sunrise in the morning or after sunset in the afternoon.
3.1.2.

Native Trees
3.1.2.1 Prepare planting hole with minimum size to be in accordance with
Attachment 1 of this specification.
3.1.2.2 CONTRACTOR shall provide all of native trees as listed on Attachment
Type of tree that will be planted at certain area shall be submitted to
COMPANY for approval.
3.1.2.3 Open the plastic bag before planting the tree and put this waste plastic in
the disposal bag/can to be disposed of in an environmentally manner.
3.1.2.4 Plant the selected seedling trees on 20-feet x 20-feet spacing.
3.1.2.5 Fill up the hole with adequate good topsoil mixed with fertilizer in a
proper composition.
3.1.2.6 Provide good drainage systems for the regreening areas.
3.1.2.7 This work shall include maintenance period for one month to ensure the
trees grow well.
3.1.2.8 No trees watering shall be allowed during hot sunny days. Watering shall
be done either during sunrise in the morning or after sunset in the
afternoon.

3.2.

Maintenance
The maintenance works shall include, but not limited to, plant watering, fertilizing,
replacing dead grasses and trees, protecting the grasses and trees from diseases/pests,
improve drainage system, and adding topsoil.

3.3.

Safety
3.3.1.

CONTRACTOR shall perform the Work in a safe manner and shall observe all
such safety rules and other regulations as COMPANY may prescribe for its Area
of Operation including but not limited to motor vehicle speed limits.

3.3.2.

CONTRACTOR shall be responsible for the safety of the workers and the
cleanliness of the Sites during the performance of the Work up to its completion.
All workers shall be provided with necessary personal protective equipment
required to perform the Work.

3.3.3.

COMPANY shall have the right to stop CONTRACTORs Work at anytime if


Safety violations are found. CONTRACTOR shall not commence the Work until
violations are corrected and approved by COMPANY.

CONTRACTOR shall be responsible for the safeguarding of the COMPANYs


facilities at the Site. Any damage at the facilities will be repaired/replaced by
COMPANY and all of the repair cost will be charged to CONTRACTOR.
