Mary is retiring! Mary Baldauf, an Eastminster employee for nearly

21 years and a vital part of the Eastminster Congregational Care team,
has decided to retire from full-time work. Her last day in the office will
be Tuesday, March 31; however, we are pleased that Mary will begin
serving as part-time Care Visitor on May 1. In her role as Care Visitor, Mary will call
and visit with members who are not able to get out much.
Mary has touched the lives of many, many members, and you are invited to drop
by March 26 from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. to a Tea in her honor. If you are not quite
sure who Miss Mary is, just ask any one of the children (or adults) who have made
the pilgrimage to her office for candy over the years. Mary has graciously provided
thousands upon thousands of pieces of candy, and as a way of thanking her, the
church is accepting non-tax deductible gifts to be given to Mary. These gifts may
be placed in the jars marked candy donation located at the Senior Pastors office
and EDS administrative office. It is with sadness (to see her go) and joy (that she has
shared so much with each of us) that we honor Marys decision.
Welcome Chris Fink! It is with excitement that the Personnel Committee announces the hire of Chris Fink as Senior High Youth Director. Chris was graduated
from North Greenville University with a major in Christian Studies in December
2014. Before accepting the position at Eastminster, Chris was serving as the intern
to the youth pastor at Destiny Church in Mauldin, SC, since 2013, and while still in
school, Chris served the First Presbyterian Church of Greenville as an intern. Chris
has a good way of connecting with young people and meeting them where they are.
In addition, Chris has varied experience in assisting with leading groups on retreats,
overseeing Wednesday evening activities and assisting on Sunday mornings. He
brings music skills to the table, along with leadership, problem-solving and conflict
management. Chris feels he is called to preach the gospel and to help people grow in
their relationship with Christ. Chris began work at Eastminster on Monday, March
2. Please stop by and welcome Chris as he adjusts to life in his new home.
In Christ,

Brad

Walking in the Footsteps of Paul - A Trip to Turkey and Greece

Registrations can now be received for participation in the Eastminster

educational vacation trip to Turkey and Greece, October 2-15, 2015. Flying
into Thessaloniki, we will travel by bus and ship to see each of the original
seven churches founded by St. Paul on his four excursions around the eastern
Mediterranean Sea coast. We will have native Christian guides to help us
understand the importance of each city and the political, social and economic factors that led
to the rapid spread of Christianity in the first century after the resurrection of Jesus. Surrounding the early churches we will see beautiful scenery and learn more about the polytheism of ancient Greece and Rome that provided the background for Pauls ministry. Cost of
the trip is $4099+, and you are welcome to invite family and friends to participate with us.
Watch the newsletter in the coming months for more study courses to be offered focusing on
Pauls faith and his work, which will expand our personal knowledge and prepare us for the
trip. Itineraries and registration forms can be found at the Narthex Welcome Center and at
the Reception desk. Please direct questions to Julie McDaniel and Jane Brissette; please send
registrations with $500 deposit directly to Alpha Christian Tours in Raleigh, NC.
