A great soul once asked: !Why curse the darkness when you can light a
candle?" The ritualistic burning of candles is a form of prayer, which can be
performed in a complex and elaborate manner, or in the simplest form.
Here we will explore only the simplified forms of candle magick because
we are combining the magickal art of candle burning with the invocation of
Divine words and the power of Bible Verses. This extremely powerful
combination will serve the practitioner as a most powerful tool for dealing
with the problems of life.
Before you begin, two things must be considered foryour spell:
Do you wish to attract, or repel?
Attract
When you want to attract a certain thing into your life such as healing,
good fortune, money, love, etc., you must prepare the candle by applying oil
to it as you hold a mental picture of your desire.
Some use olive oil, others use special purpose oil for anointing candles
which can be obtained from spiritual/new age supply stores.
To anoint a candle to attract, the practitioner must apply some oil to the
bottom of the candle on one side, then rub upward and stop at the center.
Then one applies oil to the top of the candle, rub downward and stop at
the same center spot.
Repel
When you wish to repel something from your life, such as psychic attack,
ill fortune, undesirable conditions and situations etc., apply oil as follows:
Apply some oil to the center of the candle on one side, then rub downward
to the bottom. Then apply oil to the same center spot and rub upward to the
tip of the candle.
Remember, it is best to use only one candle for each purpose. Once you
prepare a candle for a special purpose, do not use that candle for any other
reason.
When the candle has burned down to a stub, you should dispose of it
properly. Some wrap the leftover wax in a piece of cloth and bury it. Others
prefer to throw it into running water. Others throw the entire wax into a larger
fire so that all is consumed. You may select the method that suits you.
Depending on what it is that you hope to achieve with your spell, choose
an appropriately colored candle. Remember, if you only have one color of
candle, a white candle can be used for any type of spell.
Note:
In oder to follow this list please check the Divine name that will need to be engraved onto the candle.

ShimmusheyTehillim
The Magical Use of Psalms
Very often, psalms were part of magical spells and incantations, although psalms are
more magical chants in themselves. Each psalm has a specific application for a certain
effect. ShimmusheyTehillim is the magical use of psalms.
Currently, there is available only a translation of this magical use of psalms by the
German theologian Godfrey Selig, who was not a Qabbalist and who did not always
understand what he translated. Furthermore, some of the magical names and procedures
in his translation differ considerably from the ancient texts available to me. Sometimes,
he even changed the meaning of psalms to fit his own religious beliefs; for example,
Psalm 95, used !against compulsory baptism," was changed into a prayer of the pious
for his erring and unbelieving brethren. A psalm that was meant against proselytizing to
others (which is a very un-Jewish thing to do) was turned into a psalm for those who need
to be proselytized to because, according to the Christian view, they are erring. He
therefore turned it into the exact opposite.
In this chapter, you will find the use of the psalms as they appear in the ancient
manuscripts. The manuscripts available to me were not always complete, so I had to fill
in the gaps based on Seligs translation.
This is another example of an amulet on which the words are arranged to form a specific
pattern:
This amulet is designed to help and protect a woman and her child during childbirth. It
must be written on parchment and placed on the navel of the pregnant woman while
speaking a prayer.
In the center of the amulet are permutations4of the Tetragrammanton. The next square
consists of Psalm 142:8: !Bring my soul out of prison, that I may give thanks unto Thy
name; the righteous shall crown themselves because of me; for Thou wilt deal bountifully
with me." In the third square are written the names of the four holy creatures, and in the
outer square the words AnneniYah, !Answer to me [o God] YAH," are written sixteen
times.
This is the prayer that must be spoken:
May it be Thy Will, God of Heaven and earth, God of our forefathers. Hear my words, O mighty,
great, and adorable God. Hear my prayer for the sake of Thy most Holy Name EHIYEH ASHER
EHIYEH YAH YOD HEH VAV HEH EL ELOHIM YOD HEH VAV HEH TZEVAOT SHADDAI
ADONAI compassionate and merciful Father. In the time of need Thou hearest the plea of those
who fear Thee. Accept my prayer as the prayer of the entire nation. Accept it for the sake of all
peoples prayers, and look with compassion on the woman whose womb is closed and who cries in
the pain of birth. Answer our prayers and help [Insert name of woman]. Have mercy upon her and
her child, and keep them alive and healthy. King of Kings, Holy of Holies, hear her cries and accept
her prayers, as Thou accepted the prayers of Hannah. Let her hope not be in vain, and fulfill the
request of Thy maidservant, and let her prayer be like an offering of frankincense, and let her
fearful heart be like Thy altar. Hear me, I plea to Thee, hear me O Lord. Amen Selah

Other Verses
In addition to the psalms, many other verses were used for specific magical purposes. On
amulets a notarikon (an anagram) would have been used. For example, ?Heal her now, O
God, I beseech Thee? (Numbers 12:13) has been used against fever. In this case, the first
letters were turned into the magical word A.N.R.N.L.5(
).
Following, you will find an overview of the most common verses used in magic.
Sometimes, only the beginning of a verse was used. In such cases, the number of the rest
of the verse is written in parentheses.
