FIELD STUDY 3

Episode 1 focus on The Schools Learning Resource Center.


During my observation at St. Peters College, Iligan City with the resource
teacher Ms. Mae Sacayan. This learning resource center serves as a place which helps
a lot to the learners in enriching their knowledge. It would also enable the students to
spend their leisure time there while studying and playing. Their resource center are
arranged properly and accordingly to their functions and characteristics so that the
students could determine easily and look what they wanted to use at a certain time.
Episode 2 focus on Bulletin Board Display.
During my observation at St. Peters College, Iligan City with the resource
teacher Ms. Mae Sacayan. The purpose of board display is to give information to the
students. In addition, it serves as social and psychological atmosphere of the school. It
is effective because every students know that its a board which conveys information
that relates to the students study.
As we go along with the board display, we made bulletin board display at
Santiago High School. I encourage all teachers that in making board display it should
be cool to the eyes for everybody, readable words, simple but elegant to looked.
Episode 3 focus on See and Say.
During my observation at St. Peters College, Iligan City with the
resource teacher Ms. Mae Sacayan. The Filipino teacher used chalk, board and book as
her learning materials or teaching resources. It is very common teaching aids in
classroom. The teacher discuss the lesson very well. The learners response to the
teachers in a chorus, some students are not paying attention while others are paying
attention to the discussion. Yes the students show attentiveness and eagerness to the
topic. With their behavior in the classroom not all the students are participating in class
discussion but others are paying attention and they are attentive and easily understand
their lesson with the use of the teaching materials by the teacher.

Based on my observation, one of the difficulties of the teacher is handling


misbehavior because some of the learners are not paying attention to the teacher and
they are very talkative. For me as a future teacher, we should be patient in our students
so that we can discipline them and tell our students to give their full attention and stop
doing something while the discussion is still going on.
I would do everything to make students motivate well in the learning process
before I discussed the lessons to the students, a number of questioned about the topic
can served from the students to arouse their interest and focus their attention to the
topic. A good teaching enhanced students to interact in different classroom activities to
make teaching learning possible.
Episode 4 focus on Tools of the Trade.
During my observation at St. Peters College, Iligan City with the resource
teacher Ms. Mae Sacayan. As I roamed around first and observed the resources and
materials available or useful for my topic. Some resources that were available seem to
be useful for my chosen topic. The materials that were available in the learning
resources are chalkboard, books, whiteboards, power point presentation, pictures,
projectors. LCD T.V, visual aids. I choose those learning resources because I believe
that it can help me achieve my lesson objectives to maximize learning inside the
classroom.
Doing survey of available materials will give a new idea to the teacher of what
to make and how to make it. Through survey I can gain competence in preparing
instructional materials that are appropriate to the learning content, learning objectives
and learning styles of my students. Maybe, I can say the lack of time in the preparation
of the materials to be used in the classroom is one of the problems that I encountered
in making the material. To solve this problem to budget your time, set priorities, and
effective time management will be the key to conducive learning. And I should take a
risk or effort that I can do it by myself.
Episode 5 focus on Paper Works.
During my observation at St. Peters College, Iligan City with the resource
teacher Ms. Mae Sacayan. Making handouts for the lesson that you will be discussing
is not an easy task. You have to consider the availability of the resources and time as
well. Good thing if you have the books, the internet and other references. A handout
must be detailed thoroughly constructed, comprehensive sets of concepts and ideas
sequences together to guide the students during class discussions. Also contain reliable
information, content must appropriate for your subject matter and learning to the

students. If these features are present then the teaching learning process is effective
and flow smoothly.

The teacher must identify first her objectives and the purpose in making the
handout. Then he/she must conceptualize the flow and the content of the handout by
making an outline. The teacher must also read several references so that the handout
will be an informative tool for the student learning.
Episode 6 focus on Slideshow Biz.
During my observation at St. Peters College, Iligan City with the resource
teacher Ms. Mae Sacayan. Slide presentation must fill space on the slide effectively,
choose font sizes carefully, beware of the portrait orientation, avoid mega data slides,
use no more than two graphs on a slide, use colors that contrast, ideas for emphasis,
slide content should be self-evident, prepare your slides well in advance, speak
comfortably and clearly, enjoy your presentation.
The difficulties that I encountered in making the slide presentation is in
choosing background design of the slide, in choosing transition of the slide. Its very
difficult to make the presentation if you dont have idea about power point. But I will
try my best, because as a teacher someday, my responsibility is to teach the students
and thats my role in this world.
Episode 7 focus on My E-World.
During my observation at St. Peters College, Iligan City with the resource
teacher Ms. Mae Sacayan. The teacher discussed about the weather condition. But
before she started, she mentioned about her objectives. These were, To describe and
understand weather condition; To explain the elements of weather condition. The most
important concepts that the teacher is emphasizing, the teacher must help students
draw on their own experiences to build a scaffold on which they can hang new ideas.
When students are actively engaged, they focus on what is being taught and better
process new information.
In my technology skills, I could not say yet that I am competitive enough
because in the first place this is not my specialization, but I have a little knowledge
that I believe I could use when I already land a job..in fairness it is very nice if we
really know how to use electronic resources.
