From the
A few weeks ago I highlighted some of the new
courses on the Honors schedule. This week, I
thought I'd remind you of some perennial favorite
Honors seminars that we'll be reprising in the fall.

"Clemson Experimental Forest," Prof. Vic Shelburne, Department of Forestry (emeritus).

Come explore Clemson's 17,500 acre experimental forest with Prof. Shelburne, an expert
on forest ecology, tree physiology, and landscape ecology. A great chance to get outside
and learn about this extraordinary resource located right next to Clemson's main campus.
"Puzzles and Paradoxes," Prof. Marilyn Reba,
Department of Mathematics. Math -- and the
world that it models -- can be fascinating, paradoxical, and, well, puzzling. Prof. Reba takes
you on a tour of this strange (and yet practical)
world.
"French Conversation," Prof. Kenneth Widgren,
Department of French. Prof. Widgren's course
offers intermediate and advanced French students the opportunity to hone their French conversation skills in this one-credit-hour course.

Have a great week, and a wonderful Spring Break.

Dinner
with Louis Fisher, renowned legal and political scholar (Library
of Congress, retired) for Honors students. This Tuesday, March
10th from 6:30-7:45pm in the Honors Center multipurpose
room.
Dr. Fisher is an expert on Federalism, Legislative-Executive Relations, and other constitutional law issues. He will be holding an
informal dinner/discussion with interested Honors students,
focusing on a legal brief he wrote in the Supreme Court case of
Zivotovsky v. Clinton, which challenged a State Department
policy forbidding American citizens born in Jerusalem to list
their place of birth as "Israel" on their passports (the United
States does not formally Israeli sovereignty over the city of Jerusalem, under a policy adopted in 1948).
Students are asked to read Dr. Fisher's Supreme Court brief
(link below) prior to dinner. (Don't worry--Dr. Fisher will explain
any confusing issues or language!).

This should be a very stimulating and interesting conversation
with a scholar of great knowledge and experience!
RSVP to bower2@clemson.edu to reserve your spot. Space is
limited!

Are you considering dropping a class? Remember, this Friday, March 13th is the last day to drop
with a W. If you are dropping your ONLY Honors
