OVER THE HILL

I recently turned forty, and this dreaded if arbitrary milestone brought not only the expected
despair, but also the confidence to declare that certain bleak conclusions, which were at first
closeted fears, then denied suspicions, then creeping doubts, are undoubtedly true.
Those of you who are still young, or for some other reason still gripped in the long claws of that
chronic agony called hope, may vigorously deny what I have to say. If, for some reason, you
actually listen to me, you might attack me for saying it. Despite this danger, and the futility, I
exhort you to listen, so you can't say you weren't told.
THE TERROR OF POSITIVE THINKING
Ignorance is supposed to be bliss. But when ignorance becomes harder and harder to maintain,
the bliss becomes strained. The plastered-on smile begins to crack. Denial is hard to maintain. It
takes more and more energy to resist what is becoming glaringly obvious. The positive attitude
slowly becomes a painted clown face beneath which the smile twists into a sneer.
In the end, it's false hope which drives one to suicide, either the real kind, or the partial kind, by
which I mean drugs, drink, addiction or television.
The pressure to be positive is the despot's demand of unconditional support for his regime. The
Power of Positive Thinking insists that you are responsible for the bad things that come your
wayit's only because you've harbored bad thoughts, like fugitive slaves in your basement, that
good things have passed you by.
Insofar as you accept this dogma, you blame yourself. By accepting The Secret, you're repenting
of your negative thoughts. You're admitting your guilt. Yes, you admit, I have allowed
contagious gloom to enter my mind. I have been weak, and in the moments when I could
maintain my mask of happiness no more, I gave in to the seduction of self-loathing, to the
tenderness of despair. I alone am to blame for everything bad that's happened to me I've
brought it onto myself.
The Power of Positive Thinking bills itself as liberation from unhappiness but is actually
submission to shame.
Let's let go of the fear of despair now, and shine a bright light on the Lies of Positive Thinking.
Is your suffering your own fault? Are you willing to take this idea to its logical conclusion and
accept that all the world's victims deserved their suffering? Do the victims of your own
wrongdoings deserve what you have done to them? What would you think of a person who hurt
others, and then claimed that they were asking for it by thinking bad thoughts? Are you willing
to become such a person?
You've come equipped with a mind but using it may make you anxious, because inevitably,

your thoughts lead you to contradict what you have been told everyone else believes. You've
been duped into thinking you had a chance, and that however you've failed, however you've
fallen short of your aspirations, it's because you didn't believe hard enough, you didn't manage to
fool yourelf into success, to placebo yourself into wellness, to pull yourself up by your psychic
bootstraps.

BLOOD IN THE GROUT

Turn a bright light on the whole scenario and you'll see that you've been robbed, beaten, raped,
and lied to, and as you're laying there naked in a pool of your own blood, they've got you
hypnotized into blaming yourself for losing your clothes. They've convinced you to leave the
door open so they can assault you whenever they please.
It's your fault that you're covered in blood can you deny that it is your blood? No, you must
confess. (The other crusts, don't ask about.) The fact that your mind is empty of history and you
have no idea how you got there is not so much your fault, you are told it would be wrong to
think of this emptiness as your fault, as it is, in fact, your only strength, and it is only in this
emptiness that will permit you to see the wonder and joy of your beautiful, if battered, nudity
against the cold tile.
SOUR GRAPES
Clearly this is a case of sour grapes, you cry! Here is a man, recently turned forty, not
particularly bright or talented, who, upon waking up to the realization that he is a failure, wants
to deny anyone else the possibility of success through positive thinking.
I have a sense of what success and failure are. I feel in my very guts the powerful notion of a
spectrum that runs from failure to success. If you were to tell me that Jim Broadshoulder over
there is a big success, I would immediately have the idea that he was a very confident man,
capable, with a firm handshake. I would imagine his voice to be low in pitch, slow in cadence
and rich in timbre. I would imagine him to be dressed in new and simple clothing, probably
leather shoes, chinos, a v-neck sweater over an oxford shirt, open at the neck, and short, combed
and clean but shiny hair. He would look me in the eyes when he spoke to me, if he deigned to do
so. He would have a sufficent amount of money in various accounts and some secure
investments, and would feel socially validated and cared for in his intimate circle of
acquaintances, friends and loved ones. I wouldn't necessarily think that he was particularly
intelligent in fact, I would specifically think that he was of above average intelligence, but not
too far above average.
If I think about it some more, I realize I don't actually know anyone who is at all like Jim
Broadshoulder. The image I have of a successful man comes from pictures in catalogs, from
characters in movies and on television, and to a lesser extent, from books. It has been reinforced

by glimpses I've had of men in the street, in corridors of buildings, on the subway, or in airports,
men who look a little bit like a character George Clooney might play. But I don't know anything
about these men. In fact, whenever I've gotten to know someone who at first seemed like a
successful man, the closer I get to them, the more I find that they don't fit the model at all. In
fact, sometimes I find myself at a professional event or in an airport or on the street, and I realize
someone is looking at me as if I am Jim Broadshoulder, as if I am the successful man, and that's
the real shock. If only they knew.

SUCKS ASS
Success and failure are one of many sets of images that, taken together, form the contradictory,
inconsistent, and incoherent system of thought within which my mind took form. Since my
intended audience is people who also grew up in this system, I'll refer to this system as "our
world."
I remember, in grade school, being asked over and over again to define success. It was a
perennial favorite subject for essay questions. We were urged to come up with our own
definitions of success and told that it didn't necessarily mean getting rich. But try, as a mental
exercise, to imagine the inverse: someone successful who owns nothing, and who has no money.
One can only imagine someone who has created some sort of competing, alternative system a
cult perhaps that is large and powerful enough to form a layer of protection between him and
the world. Because our world is merciless to those who own nothing and who have no money,
such people are, by definition, failures. It is impossible to imagine a person without money or
possessions who is not being trampled upon by our world, unless they are surrounded by and
supported by a family, a religious group or some other group of followers or devotees.
The failure to have money is criminal. Poverty is a crime and the entire legal system is geared to
punish the poor. When the rich are punished, it is an extraordinary event which merits major
coverage in all media. The judicial punishment of poor people for any of various poverty-related
activities, or for simply not having money, is not news.
To be a failure is to be a victim. Those who prey on others are often considered successful. The
successful man is a successful predator, and his prey is human.
I'm not being gender neutral here that's only because the question of success for women opens
an entirely different can of completely awful worms.
MERITOCRACY
Success is attractive and failure is repulsive. Magazines exist to sell products by placing images
of success next to images of products.

I recently read an article about rich people in an upmarket culture magazine. (Almost all of the
articles in upmarket culture magazines are about rich people unless they're about murderers.
The audience for these magazines is primarily interested in rich people and murderers
especially serial murderers, sex murderers, cannibals and mass murderers. Rich people do not
disclose that they are murderers unless they are somehow compelled to do so, so these
overlapping categories often seem to be separate.)
In the course of this article about rich people, the author casually characterized the world of the
rich people as "meritocratic."
In our world, the dichotomy of success and failure is seen of a spectrum of merit. Those with
merit become successful those without merit fail.
Anyone who considers himself successful would be pleased to consider his system meritocratic.
Then, whatever qualities contribute to success can be counted as merit. The qualities referred to
by this particular writer, in this particular article, as contributing to success were cunning,
perseverence, duplicity, deviousness, ruthlessness and cruelty.
Those who have a burning ambition to succeed generally fall into two categories those who
have brilliant minds, great talent, heart, generosity integrity and soul and, on the other hand,
those who are ruthless, jealous cunning, devious, unscrupulous, cruel and patient. The latter
inevitably triumph over the former, and attribute their success to merit.
Those who have what is overtly called merit in other words, the brilliant, the talented and the
soulful sometimes lurch close to worldly success but usually only go so far until they stumble,
look down, see their dark blood on the floor, and sink into unconsciousness.
A TALE OF TWO SYSTEMS
One reason that our world is so incoherent and inconsistent is that there are at least two systems
colliding in our popular thought (such as it is.)
One system is overt we maintain that love conquers all, the family is sacred, that one should
help the weak, that we should not steal from each other, nor eat each other. We praise those who
seek the hidden truth against the odds and we value openess. Society should be transparent and
those who do good should be rewarded.
The other system is covert. It has many names call it Machiavellian, realpolitik, coercive or
manipulative: it holds that the spoils belong to the victor, that might makes right, and that the
ends justify the means. Those who think this way pretend to think the other way it's to their
advantage to do so. The wolves own the finest sheeps' duds.
Because the people who follow the covert system take control of any institution that lasts long
enough in our world, a peculiar corruption of language happens. Things begin to not quite mean
what they seem to mean. Eventually everything is so ass-backward and topsy-turvy that nothing

is what it claims to be.

When what passes for hope is false hope, false hope must be dashed before real hope can be
found. As long as you're chasing a phantom of false success, you're doomed. You'll never reach
what you're looking for because it doesn't exist, and if you do stumble across it, you won't even
recognize it.
CULTURE, IN GENERAL, IS AN ATTEMPT TO HIDE THE TRUTH
The naked fact of the matter is that our civilization is exploitative. There's a herd which sustains
a smaller group, which sustains a yet smaller group. There's a lot of dressing-up and display that
is used to cover up and beautify the naked aggression which keeps the whole thing going.
US AND THEM
Nietzche wrote about this collision of systems. He felt horrified and betrayed, and repudiated the
overt system of values, since the followers of the covert system had used it against him. He
called the overt system a "slave morality" and demonstrated that it left one vulnerable to
exploitation.
But who wants to live like a Nietszchean superman? Only those awful, boorish, intolerable
sociopaths that one does one's best to avoid at parties actually like the covert system. For most
humans, if everyone acted like that, life just wouldn't be worth living. People who act like that
are assholes, and they ruin everything. We despise them, and they know that we despise them,
and the strange thing is, they actually want us to like them, even as they prepare us for their
ovens. They want our praise, even as they marinate us!
They admit that they think the way they think from time to time, even though they know we'll
find it loathsome. Yet in private, they want to be admired. They think they're smart for ruining
everything because they end up with more of the goodies. If they didn't want this approval
they'd probably have things sewed up even tighter, but as it is, it's tight enough.
And yet, they are us. Most of us participate in both systems to a varying extent. We choose
exactly how far we want to go, and who we want to be. At the peak of Western bourgeois
civilization, during the late nineteenth century, "civilized" people acted according to the overt
system within their class and according to the covert system outside of their class or nation; with
impeccable manners in the ballroom and with ultraviolence in the Congo. Today the boundaries
are gone, and we ritually murder our neighbor's children as we sign agreements on trade with the
new Joneses in Myanmar.
Culture is a field of deceptions that allows us to serve the sociopathic second system while
congratulating ourselves that we're part of the humanistic first system.
Most people have good human values they don't want to make other people suffer. They don't

want to prosper by causing other people to suffer. They'd rather starve than eat human flesh.
They'd rather tell the truth and be told the truth than to lie and suspect everyone else of lying to
them.
The only way they can be made to support a bunch of lying, scheming, swindling thieves is if
those thieves confuse and frighten them.
It's their very strength their honesty and trust that the crooks turn against them. As a result, the
language breaks; sincere emotion gets polluted; institutions harbor exactly what they ostensibly
oppose; and we all become our own worst enemies as our best instincts are used to make us do
wrong.
ALL DOGMAS ARE FALSE
If they were true, they wouldn't be dogmas. They become dogmas because some people coerce
others to believe them for profit.
ALL BELIEFS ARE FALSE
The churchgoers don't believe any of it. They go because they want to believe that everyone else
believes it. If you're honest with yourself, if you say you believe something, you mean you're
trying to believe it. Or that you don't know, but that you'd prefer to think that your chosen belief
was true in the absense of any evidence. We don't refer to certainties as beliefs. Beliefs are ideas
we accept in order to not think about something we find difficult or troubling, and we almost
always get them from somewhere else.
All media lies. Everything on television is false. It's not entirely false but even if it's true, it's
made false in some way before it's transmitted.
Most of our ideas come from somewhere else. Even the things we think we've come up with on
our own can usually be traced back to something we heard but didn't quite register, saw and
didn't understand at the time, or were told and forgot. Somehow we believe that the vast array of
media that surrounds us is just there to amuse us. The media goes to great lengths to convince us
that it is trifling: mere entertainment. But it has a very serious purpose indeed it gives us our
vocabulary of thought, and unless we make serious efforts to acquire thoughts from other
sources, we'll never think outside of the tracks that are laid down for us in the media.
So what's true?
Truth disperses deceptions. Truth is the removal of confusion. Truth is the end of denial.
Truth is the ability to understand in your heart what someone wrote 50, 500 or 5000 years ago.
Truth is not beauty, and beauty is not truth. The truth is often very ugly. Youth is beauty, and

beauty can be cruel and dishonest. Beauty can be an illusion. That which illuminates the soul
with its profound revelatory truth is often called beautiful, but this is an example of one word
having two meanings residue of the covert confusers.
TELEVISION
Television is a wire that connects your libido to a bank.
Television is a weapon and you are the target. Television is the projection of military power into
your brain.
Television is the insertion of icons from a distance into a subject's visual cortex. Television
guides a missle in the Middle East with a joystick in Nevada.
THE BIRTH AND THEFT OF TELEVISION
Television wasn't invented by one person. The sound portion of television, frequency
modulation, was invented by Edwin Armstrong, a brilliant man whose invention was stolen by
the radio monopoly RCA, leading him to commit suicide by jumping out a high window. Of
course, defenestration from six stories or higher is also a popular means of assassination.
The electron scanning tube, which provides the "vision" portion of television, was developed by
Philo T. Farnsworth; he also resisted RCA and was crushed in a slow and deliberate fashion.
RCA was a cartel formed to run the new technology of radio broadcasting as a government
monopoly. One of the original cartel members was United Fruit, a corporation whose directors
later ran the CIA and whose legacy was one of cheap banannas watered with the blood of
campesinos.
RCA was a military-industrial corporation run by a Brigadier General of Psychological
Operations. It ran the first two television networks, NBC and ABC; later CBS was introduced to
give more of an appearance of diversity, although there was never any difference in political or
aesthetic orientation between the three networks.
TELEVISION IS FREE
TV's ostensible content is referred to, with nary a wink, as programming. The real content, of
course, is the advertising. The programming is selected and paid for by advertisers. Anything
that's advertised is, insofar as it is advertised, not needed. Advertising is a form of mind control.
The programs all become advertising, and all become mind control, as they are used to sell a
worldview in which advertising makes sense. Ultimately the price of television is paid in the
unfreedom of the market place as advertising and national distribution networks extend the
power of monopolies into every human need.

THE INTERNET
The Internet is an enormous electronic filing system housed on military communications
networks and in vast military computers in which the world's people have been persuaded to
enter their personal information, their erotic foibles, and their most subversive thoughts.
CANNIBALS
Those who live by exploiting the labor of others, by extortion or theft, or through professional
murder, are essentially cannibals, whether or not they actually eat human flesh.
The fact that many of our leaders actually do eat human flesh is not such a secret. The fact that
the Western world's dominant religion is based around ritual cannibalism is a symbol of this fact.
IF YOU'RE SO RICH, WHY AREN'T YOU SMART?
The genius is viewed with patronizing contempt by the rich. The successful cannibal considers
the genius' work in mathematics, theory, art, or music to be a irrelevant and unserious waste of
time which he may nevertheless patronize if it will improve his social standing. When an art or
science becomes useful for dominating other humans, the sociopaths turn it into a technique and
restrict its practice; e.g. the destruction of physics, or the transformation of culture into an
industry.
FREEDOM
In the course of pretending to seek consent for the most recent Mesopotamian genocide, the
amiable, bumbling figurehead G. W. Bush claimed that some constructed enemy "hated us for
our freedoms."
What freedoms those were supposed to be are hard to imagine, but at the time I had the
overwhelming impression that he was referring to the freedom to view pornography and drink
alcohol.
"Freedom" is a meaningless word I can understand freedom from incarceration or freedom from
psoriasis, but freedom in the abstract means nothing. Can freedom, on its own, be understood as
a kind of formlessness? A lack of constraint? The ultimate freedom is death, the annihilation of
form. In this sense the Israeli armed forces could be said to be the real Palestinian Liberation
Organization, as an organization that, in practice, often frees Palestinians from form.
THE FANTASY OF FREE MARKETS

"Free market" is a phrase that was deployed as a psychological warfare tactic by C. D. Jackson
under Eisenhower's administration to replace the word "capitalism." As used by media, it
actually means that the government will help the powerful to exploit the poor through the use of
terror.
Anyone who has attempted to do business in this country knows that the economic barriers
preventing ordinary people from bringing goods to market are formidible. Only massive
organizations may effectively enter the marketplace. To call America's markets free is cruel and
ironic.
The only real free market is the black market.
FAMOUS
We were poor, young, idealistic musicians. I ran into Pat and Matt on a subway platform. Pat
said, "Hey, guess what! Matt's famous!"
I replied, "You mean he's in a magazine?"
THE SUCCESSFUL ARTIST
To become an artist is to enter another world. An artist can enter into or even create another
system of values and images. The artist can enter an artistic tradition and enter into a
conversation with the other artists there, either living or dead. The artist can define a new set of
antinomies, polarities, can accept, abandon or create goals.
When most people in our world speak of a successful artist, though, they mean an artist who has
been discussed in magazines or other mass media. An artist who is discussed among fellow
artists is considered an "emerging" artist.
If we are to be fair, though, we'll have to let the artist decide whether he or she has succeeded or
not. To judge an artist successful or a failure based on the response of the media, or by the
amount of money the artist has made, is to deny the existence and validity of art.
Art is a zone where humans create freely and create values. If I subject it to an external,
predatory system in my own mindi.e. to judge art as successful based on acclaimI do not harm
the art or the artist, but I destroy one of the only chances I have to save myself.
ESCAPE HATCHES
The escape hatches are several and lead to regions such as Art (with its many subdivisions such
as Music, the art of time Painting and the visual arts the language arts like Poetry Fiction, the

art of fantasy Dance, the art of the movement of the body the various combined arts, such as
Theater, Opera media arts performing arts), Philosophy (with its many subdivisions such as
Mathematics, Physical Science, Ethics, and Medicine), History, Meditation/Devotion, Service to
Others, and Love.
Any of these regions provide or permit valid and self-consistent value systems that can save you
from our world. It's true that our world has polluted all of them and they all have corrupt copies
in our world. There's Art, and then there's the Art World- the Art Business- Art School; there's
Entertainment, the Music Business, the Rock Scene, Publishing; all of which prey upon and
vampirize Art. Likewise, there is Philosophy, and then there's Acadamae. There's
Meditation/Devotion, and then there's Religion. There's Service to Othersand then there's
Psychiatry, the Health Industry, The Non-Profit Sector. There's Love and Partnership, and then
there's there's the Marriage of Convenience, the Marriage for Status, and Prostitution.
CONSPIRACY THEORY
A particularly germane example of words' meanings being twisted is the phrase "conspiracy
theory." We all know that a conspiracy theory is an insane hodgepodge of ideas spun off by a
middle-aged failure who lives in his mother's basement and seldom washes.
A conspiracy theory is any theory based on the obviously insane idea that those who have a great
deal of power might not be utterly frank with those whom they are exploiting, or those over
whom they hope to gain power.
There are two reasons that conspiracy theories are denounced as outrageous. One is that people
who choose to believe in the mythology of domination are insulted by the suggestion that they
have been fooled, either by the people that they recently voted for, or by the people on television,
as they correctly sense that these people are not that bright.
Two is that the people who are doing the conspiring are certainly not going to come right out and
admit it.
THE SKEPTICS
Another term that has acquired a poignant twist is "skeptic."
Typically a "skeptic" is a person who swallows the myth of domination wholly. Said "skeptic"
attacks anyone who questions the dominant myth with the fury of a very small dog.
THE BANKERS
"Skeptics" like to call various "conspiracy theories" implausible because, they claim, the
government is incompetent and certainly can't keep secrets. But I have never heard anyone make

these claims about private bankers.

Private bankers have you ever met one? They put the best poker players to shame unreadable,
predatory, almost invisible, they wield enormous power with quiet humility. Power over the
world's industries, resources and information media is mediated through the category of private
bankers.
The skeptics are partially right if a government were to conspire against the power represented
by private banking, they could not prevail.
THE STARS
Part of the myth of domination is the idea that there's an escape from domination. This escape
takes two forms the meritocracy and the lottery.
The meritocracy escape. Pull youself up by your bootstraps! A young man who applies himself
and works hard can make something of himself in this business. At the bottom of this myth, if
you dig deep enough, as it's presented in films and literature, there's an acknowledgement of the
true nature of the type of merit that is required i.e., one must learn to cast aside all scruples and
become a sociopath.
The lottery escape. Presented in literal form, the lottery is ubiquitous. It promises escape that is
not based on any choice or merit but simply on chance, or magic, particularly the magic of
positive thinking.
Stardom is a combination of both the various mediocrities who are served up to us are, for the
most part, meant to be nonthreatening types who serve to reassure us that we, too, could be stars
if we wanted to. Popular music is not just accidentally awfulit must be awful in order to
perpetuate the myth that we have a way out of our misery if we would only "think positive."
American Idol and the various forms of "reality" television all reinforce this myth.
Generally speaking, the "stars" with whom we are regularly besieged are much less talented than
the average practitioner of the art in which they are supposed to be skilled.
We are entering a phase in which talent will be further de-emphasized, and saturation media will
be recyled continually on a 30-year generational cycle.

BLAMING THE VICTIMS

Pop music is usually blamed on the victims the story is that these particular songs are popular
because that is the sort of music that the "market" demands.

How this demand is measured is a mystery. Somehow the hit songs simply blossom out of
nowhere into full-fledged cultural phenomena. The answer, of course, is that the songs are more
or less forced onto the market, who can only resist them to a certain extent. The various stars
and their "songs" are industrial products that are designed to carry certain cultural contagions.
Within the small slate of pre-selected stars, audience response does have some effect on the
trajectory of the stars' careers. But the age when talent scouts scoured nightclubs for the next up
and coming singer are long gone, and the process of packaging what is unironically called
"talent" is fully industrialized.
In the process, the world's folk music traditions are being scrapped and replaced with
dehumanizing mechanical sounds. The most recent stage, the replacement of the human voice
with a cyborg Auto-Tuned voice, is only one more step in the sequence that included the
replacement of drums with drum machines in the 1980s and the replacement of musicians with
samples in the 1990s.
THIS WAY LIES MADNESS
Any pursuit of truth, extended systematically, with integrity, in any direction, will lead the seeker
away from the general consensus. Society is organized around a provisional untruth which is
convenient for those who dominate.
Insofar as the seeker has ambitions, and desires success for himself or for his theory, he will limit
his differences with the society by concealing the contentious aspects of the content of his theory,
and will often vigorously defend various other aspects of the society.
Insofar as his ambition outweighs his integrity, the seeker will deny what he's found and take the
hush money that's offered him. Freud is such a case his discovery that daddies were diddling
their daughters was transformed into a theory that daughters fantasized about sex with their
fathers.
Prominent figureheads who insist on speaking the truth are silenced in one way or another death
or madness awaits them. For the rest of us, truth is the sufficient consolation for our obscurity.
I DON'T BELIEVE ANY OF IT
The education system exists to keep people from becoming educated.
The publishing industry exists to prevent good books from being published.
The music business exists to prevent good music from being heard.
The movie business exists to prevent good films from being made.
The journalism industry exists to prevent the truth from being exposed to the public.

Politics exists to prevent the will of the people from being made manifest.
Religion exists to keep people away from God and all that is holy.
Medicine exists to make people sick.
CULTURE AS CONTAINMENT OF GERMS OF LIBERATION
When the truth does emerge, as it does, inevitably, from time to time, it tends to spread rapidly.
Sometimes it can't just be genocided and rooted out like the Albegensian heresy. Sometimes it
can't be burned up like the library at Alexandria.
In these cases, the germs of liberation are surrounded and contained. Dogmas are formed
orthodoxies are constructed formulations are codified and enforced. Then, the meaning of the
words are slowly shifted.
Christianity is an attempt to prevent the message of its prophet from being heard. The Gospels
and the New Testament are attempts to prevent the germs of liberation from spreading. This is
why Christianity is a self-annihilating religion the seeds of its undoing are carried within its
central texts. But, at the same time, the attractiveness of the Christian doctrines to good people
everywhere attract them into the Church where they are counted, watched and neutralized.
The lower hierarchies of the Christian Church contain some believers who may take seriously the
message at the heart of their religion. But the upper reaches of the church hierarchy hold the
sheep in contempt. It's almost certain, in fact, that Satanism is at the heart of Christianity, and is,
in fact, the true religion of that Church. Satanism is a form of Christianity that sees the followers
of the religion as prey a bunch of chumps to be exploited physically, economically, spiritually,
sexually, and even as a food source.
The cross is displayed prominently in churches just in case Jesus shows up. It's a way of saying,
"Remember what we did to you last time if you know what's good for you, you'll stay away
from here and keep your mouth shut!"
CRACKING THE KERNEL
Clues to truth are scattered throughout the culture. You can find them everywhere. You can
make your own and hide them like Easter eggs for others to find.
NEGATIVE MATERIALISM
Materialism is a religious dogma that is compulsory for Marxists and capitalists. Capitalism is
the final triumph of material over the human spirit. Marx was a crypto-capitalist, because in his
rejection of metaphysics, he sentenced the revolution to failure.
The cult of Positive Thinking and the Christian Church are perversions of the truth, but
materialism is just empty absurdity. We can be sure that what we believe is false, but we can
never be sure that what we don't know isn't true. Materialism is ridiculous because it judges that

over which it has no jurisdiction.

Materialism is an overreaction to dogma. Materialism makes an idol out of a technique.
Materialism was effective in taking all moral force away from the opponents of capitalism.
It would be funny, except for all the torture.
REAL HOPE
Everything fails eventually, unless it fails right away.
Your pain is the realest thing you know, and it's all in your head.
Ultimately there's only one territory that matters your mind and you can control it. Making
that control a reality is a hard job, but you are capable of it.
