We are working towards developing a robust model-based
engineering framework for safety critical applications. Proven
system is used as a case-study to develop this framework.
Stall warning/ aircraft interface computer, Cockpit Display and
Pitch Auto Trim (PAT) is used as a case study. The critical
functionality of this application is developed in Simulink
according to MAAB standard and with in-house developed
mutation tool, we generate test cases. The simulink generates
auto code from the model and the code is run in LDRA tool to
generate test cases. The robustness of the framework is

demonstrated by applying it for critical functionalities of safety

critical applications and verifying the auto generated test cases
from requirement stage to validation stage.

Stall Warning System (SWS/AIC) for SARAS Aircraft

The SARAS aircraft being designed and developed by CSIR NAL
is equipped with a state of the art Stall warning system
which is responsible for alerting the aircraft crew about angle of
attack information which in turn gives the stall warning. The
system also provides the Landing, Takeoff, Hydraulic low
pressure, Pitch trim and overspeed warnings. The application
software is designed as per the RTCA DO178B Level A
standards.
