For a research study we are conducting on view preservation ordinances in
California, and pursuant to California Government Code section 6250 et seq., we are
requesting that the City make the below-described documents available for inspection
and copying:
Tree Services does not get involved in view claim(s)/restoration unless the tree(s) are located
on a City owned parcel.
1. All documents pertaining to the number of people who have utilized the City of
Oakland's ("City") Municipal Code Chapter 15.52.90 application process to resolve view
preservation/restoration claims between 2009 and the present.
Tree Services does not keep records on the number of people who have utilized the City of
Oaklands OMC 12.52 application process to resolve view preservation/restoration claims.

2. All documents pertaining to the number of applications to resolve view

preservation/restoration claims that have been filed with the City between 2009 and the
present.

One claim. City Tree Permit CT12-001.

3. All documents pertaining to the number of applications to resolve view
preservation/restoration claims that have been filed with the City between 2009 and the
present that have resolved through the use of mediation.

No Claims.

4. All documents pertaining to the number of applications to resolve view

preservation/restoration claims that have been filed with the City between 2009 and the

present that have resolved through the use of arbitration.

No Claims.

5. All documents pertaining to the number of applications to resolve view

preservation/restoration claims have been filed with the City between 2009 and the
present that have not resolved through the use of mediation or arbitration, and have
proceeded to a formal hearing at the planning commission or similar municipal body,
i.e., tree equity board, tree commission.

There are no claims that meet this criteria.

6. All documents pertaining to the number of applications to resolve view

preservation/restoration claims that have been filed with the City between 2009 and the
present that have not resolved through the use of mediation or arbitration, or at a formal
hearing at the planning commission or similar municipal body, i.e., tree equity board,
tree commission level, and have proceeded to a formal hearing before the Oakland City
Council.

7. All documents pertaining to the number of applications to resolve view
preservation/restoration claims that have been filed with the City between 2009 and the
present that have not resolved through the use of mediation or arbitration, or at a formal
hearing at either the planning commission or similar municipal body, i.e., tree equity

8. A list of all current fees associated with the City's view preservation/restoration
program.
The City of Oakland does not have a view preservation/restoration program. If a tree needs to be
removed a Non-Development permit is $250.

9. The name of the person most knowledgeable about the City's view
preservation/restoration program.
