GENERAL DIRECTIONS
Answer all the four questions taken from lessons we had for the whole year, each worth a
maximum of 25 points each, in not less than 6 sentences but not exceeding 10 sentences.
You may include images to illustrate your point. To ensure the scholarly quality of the
output, you are required to cite at least three academic sources per question to prove your

QUESTION 1
Prove the existence of the World Englishes Paradigm by citing three events that
contributed to the spread of the English Language. Explain Braj Kachrus use of
concentric circles to identify how the world utilizes the English Language. Where does
the Philippines belong? Does it really belong there? Explain.

QUESTION 2
There are a lot of communication models existent today. Differentiate the following
models based on 1) concept of communication (sender-receiver interaction); 2)
acknowledgement of interferences (if any); and 3) improvements from previous/related
theories.
