andmoksha.AndonthisdayShivapujaisdoneintheformofrudraabhisekham.
SriRudramissupposedtobeaverysacredmantraoccurringintheVedas.Sri
RudramistheglorificationofLordShivawhoisnoneotherthanRudra,which
meansonewhoremovesallsorrowsorpainsfromonesmind.Ruthmeans
dukhamanddrameansremover.SotheverymeaningofRudramis
removerofsorrowandsowechantRudramanddoabhisekhamtoday.The
gloryofRudramismentionedinKaivalyaUpanishad:apersonbecomesfreefrom
pappasandsinshehascommitted.Rudramnotonlysetsusfromoursinsbutalso
giveusallthefourpurusharthas.WechantsomeDhyanaslokasbeforechanting
rudramandtheseversesareusedforthemeditationonLordShiva.Theseprayer
versesarebeautifulversesandwithbeautifulmeaning.SoIthoughtIwillgive
youbrieflythemeaningofthedhyanaslokatoday.
TheseDhayanaSlokasofRudramisbeautifulasLordShivaisdescribed
inthreedifferentwaysdependinguponthestageoftheseeker,dependingupon
thematurityofthedevoteetheLordHIMSELFisseenfromthreedifferent
perspectives.Allthethreeanglesaregiveninthedhyanaslokasandwelldiscuss
them.
ThefirstwayoflookingupontheLordasahumanbeing,asaperson.A
beginnerlooksupontheLordasaperson(asapersonalgod).Thereforetheinitial

LordShivarrudrasktaprakaitavibhavthesourceofknowledgeisSriRudram.
ThosewhosegloriesarementionedintheSriRudramoftheelevenlingas,mayall
theserudrasblessuswithhappinessandallthefourpurushartas.Thatiswhyafter
