The Lima City Schools is the largest public school system in Allen County and the region, serving a diverse population of about
4,000 students offering preschool through 12th-grade education. Since 1856, the district has been dedicated to its mission to
create a climate in which every student learns.
The Lima City Schools is made up of four elementary schools, a fifth and sixth-grade building, a
seventh and eighth-grade building and two kindergarten through eighth-grade magnet schools,
one covering the arts and the other science and technology.
Our athletes compete in the Three Rivers Athletic Conference (TRAC), a 10-school conference.
We are the home of the Spartans and We Believe in Lima!
Lima Senior High School is a comprehensive four-year public high school enrolling 1,200
students in grades 9-12. The high school opened in 1955 after the merging of two local
high schools, South Tigers and Central Dragons. In August 2004, Lima Senior High School
moved to its new location complete with a state-of-the-art auditorium, media center and
gymnasium.
Students have the opportunity to choose a pathway that will guide their learning to prepare
them for their experiences after high school. Based on students interests, students can choose
one of the following pathways: BUSINESS, STEM, HUMANITIES or UNDECIDED.
