Pets on the Net

accounts for their pets on social media websites. This is called social petworking. Results from a survey in the
United Kingdom showed that almost one million pet owners made accounts for their pets.
2-1 TRUE/FALSE: Social petworking is when a pet creates its own social media account.
/

Most people use their own account rather than create a separate one for their pet. They fill their
accounts with pet posts. There are some pet accounts that are more popular than those owned by celebrities.
Which animal is the most popular on social media? According to the study, there are more posts about dogs
than cats.
2-2 TRUE/FALSE: The study states that more people talk about dogs than cats online.

Unfortunately, an online survey about social petworking showed that peoples reactions are mostly
negative. Most think its strange that people create accounts for their pets. However, it hasnt stopped people
