MRE RedesignPlan
Product Name: MRE (Meal, Ready-ToEat) Meal Box
Target Group: Military Members
Brief History: MREs have been
around since the Revolutionary War
and have provided soldiers sustainable
rations until they could be resupplied.
It wasnt until after WWII that the
Department of Defense decided that
it needed to provide fighting soldiers
with adequate meals that would sustain
energy and be properly balanced.
MREs are continuing to be improved,
meaning that new meals are coming
out every so often and packaging is
becoming more versatile for those who
are on-the-go.
Big Idea: It seems as though we
always see war on the news and hear

rumors of wars. Though this may be


true, the newly designed MRE was
made to remind soldiers around the
world who they are fighting for. This
will be accomplished by putting scenic
images from the United States on the
new MRE meal boxes. By doing so,
when soldiers open an MRE, they
will remember that there are loved
ones praying for them and why it is so
important to protect our freedoms.
Increase Sales: MREs are a non
traditional item that can only be found at
Army Surplus stores or online, however,
by introducing inspired MRE meal
boxes, soldiers will be reminded that
the US is thinking about them. With the
new design, soldiers will find additional
strength to carry on and continue
fighting for our freedom.

Next to the MRE logo, the following
will be used as shown: (Meal, Ready
To Eat) at size 14 pt.

LogoGuide
Logo Placement Recommendations
The placement of this logo, on the packaging of
the MRE Meal Box, will be centered on the left
spine. Also, the text will need to be vertical so
that it can run along the spine of the packaging.
The only place that the MRE logo will be shown
on the product is stated above, and in no other
place will the logo be used. The following will
serve as a guide when using the logo:
