This article basically states that people in low income areas are more likely to beat
their children. Studies reveal that stress factors from the parent’s job leads to
corporal punishment being inflicted on the child. For example, a parent who just had
a terrible day at work could go home and with any slight annoyance by child will
start disciplining them. African American single mothers are also more likely to
punish their children. This is based off studies that revealed all the stress that the
black mother has to deal with on a daily basis, like taking the tremendous role of
being both the mom and dad.

and psychological problems within the child. The harsher the punishment equals the
more critical the psychological problem. This also depends on what the child
considers as harsh or not harsh.

This article deals with stress factors inflicted on children due to corporal
punishment. It talks about how disciplinary methods like spanking lead to
depression in youth. It says that there are several studies that show that parents
who are more supportive of their children are less likely to receive corporal
punishment. They believe there is connection between corporal punishment and
control. For example parents who exhibit this form of disciplinary action feel that
this lets the child know who s in control. It also suggests that forms of physical
punishment such as spanking and whipping the child could lead to abusive and
antisocial behavior.
Article 5
This article deals with parents who spank their children and parents who do not
spank their children. It suggests that parents from each side base their view on
corporal punishment from the advice they receive from outside. Studies show that
parents take in advice unknowingly sometimes. Parents are more likely to rely
more on advice from literary sources other than advice from another individual.
From this advice is where the parent develops their perception on whether or not it
is alright to spank or not spank the child. It just depends on how that parent
interprets the information given to them.
