1. General
This work method covers the requirement for the preparation and application of thermal insulation for Evonik
to DuPont plant.
2.Purpose
The purpose of this method statement is to show the work scope and materials needed for the insulation job at
Evonik to DuPont Plant.
3. Scope
FERH scope is doing the insulation and jacketing works linking the 2 plants.

5. Responsibilities
Site Manager.
He will be the overall in charge of the operations.
Ensures that all workers follow the In house rules and Singapore Law
Ensure that all workers will be working on safe working conditions.
To enforce any corrective actions required by client
To also ensure proper housekeeping at all times.
To understand the whole work scope and requirements.
To participate in any HSE meetings and site walks required.
Project Coordinator.
He will be working closely with the site manager regards to operations.
He is the 2nd in command.
In any case, the site manager is unavailable for meetings, he will represent

To do reporting and documentations for any submissions

Workers are to report to supervisor every day for their job scope
They are check their tools before start of work.
Ensure proper PPE and if insufficient report to Supervisor.
They must be responsible of their own tools bags.
To follow all in house rules at all times.
To do housekeeping everyday

7. Application Procedures

Surfaces shall be clean of dirt, loose rust, scale, loose paint, oil, grease and other foreign
matter.
All surfaces to be insulated shall be thoroughly dried before application of insulation.
Insulation material shall be protected from moisture and weather before and during
application. Applied insulation shall be free of moisture prior to application of insulation
finish.
Insulation shall be applied with all joints, butted to eliminate voids. Any opening through the
insulation finish shall be flashed moisture tight.
Insulation shall be discontinued at flanged connection to permit removal of the studs. The
distance from the end of insulation to back of flange on both sides of the connection shall be
equal to one stud length plus 25mm.The ends of insulation shall be straight.
On horizontal piping, the longitudinal lap shall be positioned to shed rainwater and minimize
dust collection.

7.2 Application on Piping


7.2.1
Pipe insulation shall be applied with butt joint arrangement and placed tightly at all joints.
7.2.2
Each layer insulation shall be secure with SS strapping for 6 and above.
7.2.3
For 6 and below, use SS wire to secure

The finish covering for insulation shall be Aluminium jacketing. The laps of 50mm at the horizontal
and vertical seams
7.3 Application on Fitting
7.3.1
All fittings such as elbows, reducers, tees, branch connections, irregular shapes, shall be
insulated in a similar process as pipe insulation and any voids filled loose wool material.

7.4 Application on Flanges, Valve & Equipment


7.4.1
Flanges and valves of piping shall be insulated with rock wool blanket.

7.5 Jacketing and Weatherproofing


7.5.1
Metal jacket seams may have 50mm circumferential and longitudinal laps. With seam facing
away from any potential source of water penetration. Lapped flat seam shall be secured by
mean of bands.
7.5.2
Metal jacket shall be fastened with self-tapping screw at each lapped seam and centre of the
jacket, maximum spacing of 100mm.
7.5.3
The metal jacket for boxes shall be secured with Toggle Latch for removal & reinstall as per
existing.

Cherrit's Aluminium Roll Jacketing is manufactured from Alloy 3003 and 1060 and Temper H-14, conforming to ASTM B209. (Other alloys available on request).
Cherrit's Aluminium roll jacketing is available in a smooth finish or a stucco embossed pattern. Either finish can come
with 5mm (3 / 16") corrugations.

WEC HSE Manager shall ensure that the work is performed accordance to the approved
Construction Safety Manual and precautions specified in the work permit. He shall
ensure that barricades, warning tapes, warning signs, firefighting equipments and first
aid kits are readily available at the working area.

Tool box talk shall be conducted on a daily basis to inform the workers of the recent
safety issues and incidents and to get feedback of any unreported unsafe acts. Feedback
will then be processed and resolved.

9.1 Safety Procedures

Area shall be barricaded adequately with warning signs.

All Equipments and tools shall be checked for good conditions before commencing the
work.

Unauthorized persons shall be excluded from the area.

Adequate caution boards and warning signs shall be provided.

On completion of job, the area shall be cleared of any materials and keep clean and tidy.

Hazard analysis for hazardous operation shall be carried out prior to commencing the
works.
