Proposal
For
FM200
FIRE
SUPPRESSANT
SYSTEMS
Introduction
However, FM-200 is
not a direct replacement for existing Halon 1301 installations due to the difference in
agent quantity and discharge characteristics. The FM-200 design concentration for
normal risks is 7.17%, and therefore requires approximately 60% additional storage
capacity over that required for Halon in the same area.
Design Consideration
The Hygood FM-200 system is designed such that a detection system sees the fire
and causes the suppression system to actuate and extinguishes or suppresses the fire.
The system components and their description are as follows
Control Panel
A microprocessor-based system, that allows continous monitoring of data from
sensors.
Sensing Devices
The sensing devices are divided into smoke detectors and heat detectors. They are
sensors which detect the presence of smoke or heat in a particular enclosure and
sends back signal to the control panel. Detection will be achieved with a combination
of Optical and Ionisation detectors. This combination is to enable the system detect
the different kinds of fire namely fast burning and smouldering fires. It also has the
advantage of early warning and precise identification of the source of fire. The two
smoke detectors work with a double-knock principle, which allows it to identify false
alarm. Before the discharge of the gas, one detector detects fire while the other
confirms the true presence of the fire before triggering the gas.
Alarm Devices
These are units for alerting the occupants of a room on the outbreak of fire. A sounder
with an audible output sound is used along side a Flasher which produces a visual
alert for occupants who may not hear the sound from the Sounder.
Extinguishing Devices
In case of a fire outbreak, an automatic fire alarm system will automatically activate
an extinguishing system thus minimising loss. The FM-200 gas will automatically
discharge on confirmation of fire from the sensors.
Other components of the
extinguishing part are:
FM-200 Gas Cylinder
Nozzles
Actuators(pneumatic & manual)
Pilot hose.
RE-FILL STATION
The Fill Station is a reservoir of FM 200 gas, which we put in place to meet our
customers needs in this area. This has enabled us to overcome the initial challenge of
the logistics involved in the importation of filled cylinder and in event of gas discharge,
the cylinder can easily be refilled which has saved us the risk of having the server
room/IT room unprotected against fire hazards for months.
Further to this, three standby vehicles assigned to the team to deliver the gas within
the response time
EXECUTION PLAN
Upon signing of the contract, BASSCOMM will order all equipment from the Manufacturers and
deliver same to the site. The project technical team headed by a Project Manager will mobilise to
site as soon as the equipment have been delivered and Installation will proceed as follows:
Cabling
Testing
Ensure that adequate information is acquired and made available at each location on
the safe methods of operation on safety, safety equipment and processes.
Ensure that budgets are adequate to cover sound methods of working and the required
safety, health and welfare facilities at each location and materials.
DOCUMENTATION
Documentation handed over with the systems will include:
Record drawings showing the location of all equipment, cable routes, junction
boxes, etc.
A system logbook in which will be recorded details of all major operational and
fault events, routine testing, maintenance, periods of disconnection, alterations
to the system, etc.
A commissioning Certificate.
All devices will be tested to ensure that they generate the correct indication and
response at the control panel.
Alarm sounders will be checked to ensure they achieve the correct sound level. Connections to
remote manned centre functions and signals to ancillary equipment will also be tested.
TECHNICAL SUPPORT
In addition to qualifications, BASSCOMM places great importance on the industrial
experience of employees and their awareness of customers needs. Our quality
policy requires a consistent investment in employee training, on and off site, to
ensure that our services are always in tune with an ever-changing market place.
In line with BASSCOMMs philosophy of designing solutions and not just
manufacturing equipment, we have developed a unique service product offering,
which provides an after sales service perfectly positioned to work within any long
term framework agreement. With the help of our highly qualified and experienced
Service Sales Engineers, our advanced service management system means fast,
friendly and efficient handling of support requirements for all our sites. Our
investment in the latest technology ensures that planned visits and contracted
response times are guaranteed.
We offer a long term maintenance contract, which includes providing a
factory trained resident engineer on site to supervise and ensure continued
systems integrity. Equipment under the maintenance contract will be listed in
a schedule and BASSCOMM will under this contract provide Basic
Maintenance Services for same. Basic Maintenance Services shall include
Preventive Maintenance, Remedial Maintenance during Remedial Maintenance
Hours, Replacement Parts and Equipment Updates.
